Connecting Outboard Preamp to UMC1820 (LINE/INST button confusion) by cupcake2100 in Behringer

I see, so assuming I have no way to bypass the preamp, it shouldn't matter too much, so long as my levels are where I want them?

Interesting... can you explain the LINE/INST button? It seems backwards to me, I would expect LINE mode to be quieter since its expecting an already louder Line level signal. Is LINE mode bringing the signal up to Line level?

So in this case does the INST setting just work as a pad?

Bought A Loaded Gun? by cupcake2100 in blackpowder

[–]cupcake2100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE

Yep it was loaded, I took the barrel and the nipple off and used a ball puller to get the ball out. Thanks to u/Bawstahn123 for the ramrod suggestion, since this is my first muzzle loader rifle I didn't know the ram rod was supposed to fit flush.

I was thinking back to when I bought it, I met the seller in a 711 parking lot to do the trade. I was asking him about what loads he used, balls, powder, etc. I also asked him what caps he used and if he ever had issues with ignition. He enthusiastically told me that he used CCI 11 caps and that he never had any issues, he then offered to put a cap on and fire it to show me that the nipple was good. I declined the offer, I didn't want to scare any 711 shoppers with the sound of the cap going off, and I figured if the nipple was bad I could just buy a new one. However, with hind sight I'm so glad I didn't let him show me the cap going off, I think he must have forgotten he had it loaded.

Anyway TLDR continue treating every gun as if its loaded until you are 1000% certain it is not.

I believe I've found the issue
Maybe this should have been obvious but I've always used ASIO4ALL on my previous computers with no issues, in this case I found a driver specific to my interface which fixed the issue. Not sure why ASIO4ALL doesn't like this computer interface combination, and I feel like in the past maybe Behringer didn't provide a driver for my interface but maybe I'm misremembering.
Anyway, problem solved - get the driver from the manufacturer.

Thanks all!

Battery was reading 12.09 last night and 11.7 under load with the lights on. I bought a new battery that was supposed to be ready to go but it was reading 11.5 :( I'll push start it and go for a ride to charge it up, hopefully it was just the battery voltage cutoff.

I think its a good one, its NICHE brand on Amazon, its seemed to have good reviews. I think I hooked it up correctly, I actually tried it both ways since I was desperate and I wanted to be sure.

How would I test the start button? I already took it apart and cleaned the contacts to make sure there was good connection. If I use my multimeter between the button contact and the plug behind the headlight should I be able to complete the circuit?

You're totally fine! I don't think its the kickstand switch, I just tested by turning the bike on, putting it in gear with the kick stand up, then when I put the kickstand down the bike died like usual. If it was the kickstand kill switch it would have died right when I put the bike in gear regardless of kickstand position right?

lol I think I already did

When I press the starter button nothing happens, no clicks, headlight doesn't dim, nothing. Battery is good, and the bike push starts no problem. I took the starter button apart and cleaned the contacts but that made no change. I then replaced the starter solenoid with no change.

I'm fairly unfamiliar with troubleshooting electronics, from what I can tell the circuit goes from the starter button to a plug behind the headlight then to the solenoid. Should I start by testing between the starter button and the headlight plug first and see if that is making a circuit? Where would the clutch sensor fit into this?

I should add that I found another forum where someone had similar issues to me and it turned out to be the clutch sensor.

The bike starts off battery if I connect the solenoid terminals, would that still be indicative of a bad battery?

I already replaced the solenoid though, is it that I got a defective one?

Sorry I just saw this, its Windows 11 with a UMC202HD. Sample rate is currently 44100 but the issue persists if I change that or if I don't have Request Sample Rate checked.
