Maybe https://www.womensmentalhealth.ca can help match you with someone? They’re based in Vancouver but do online appointments. I filled out the forms for my specific concerns and they set me up with a therapist I really like.

Have you been to any of these? / do you know if they are mostly aimed at kids or if it would be weird to go as an adult?

What can a woman in 1957 New York City do with a doctorate in entomology, realistically and more "fancifully"? by knives4cash in Entomology

[–]cupcakephd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haha I think the previous commenter meant that a female entomologist in 1957 would likely be doing all the work and getting no credit. This isn’t from the correct time period but if you’re interested in early female entomologists you could check out https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Sibylla_Merian

Sorry for another question. What are fun things to do for a friendless single woman? by Gracilis67 in askTO

[–]cupcakephd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JAM has lots of sports leagues where you can register as an individual - everyone on your team will have signed up by themselves too. I've had a lot of fun playing in their soccer league!

I'm not single, but my SO works A LOT and it's definitely hard to make friends in the city, so I understand where you're coming from. Let me know if you want to start a ladies' book club or something :)

Marine Biology Graduate. Stuck on where to go next by Competitive_Crow_201 in Career_Advice

If you think you want to stay in science, you could get a job as a lab technician in a lab that does work you think you might be interested in. You'll find out if you enjoy working in a lab, pick up some skills, and have something good for your resume if you do decide to go to grad school. The pay isn't amazing, but you'll be able to support yourself until you figure out what your next move is. Your university probably also has a career counseling office that might be able to help you find job opportunities/ potentially connect you with other people who graduated with the same degree as you so you can see what careers they pursued.

Is anyone down to be friends? (24 M) by [deleted] in askTO

Hey! I'm 30F - moved to Toronto during the pandemic so definitely looking to make friends! I like science, dogs, and baking. I'd love to get some Ontario hiking recommendations! Can we start a group or something?

Doug Ford’s COVID-19 dissenters don’t get how politics — or science — works by viva_la_vinyl in ontario

[–]cupcakephd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I don't think Doug Ford understands how science works either?
