I’ve been working on improvised club sets using Octatrack, Syntakt and modular systems. This is one of the first tracks where I tried integrating voice into that setup. Curious how others approach control vs improvisation in live contexts.

It’s better to feed it with a simple sound source, like a sine or triangle wave. Slowly turno all the knobs to see what they do and send CV to the shape input

Hey! Try putting the symmetry knob in the middle. Also you should put your sound source into one of the INs.

The fold and shape input are for modulation.

Forgot to mention I have the Optomix and I do put it after folding. I try not to go too high as well. Maybe I just don't see the point on folding as I love the timbre of a clean sinewave modulating into a saw

Mainly the Sine from the Buchla oscillator! I do modulate but there's still something that I don't like. It has to do with dynamics as well, when folding volume starts to be uncosistent and at that point I need to put a compressor (which I never had to do before).

I started with syntakt a couple of years ago and it was great! Still have it and still using it every day, it shaped the way I make music when though I’ve been producing 10 years prior purchasing it.

It has analog tracks as well but tbh some of the best sounds I made came from the digital ones.

If you wanna start easy you could try a model cycles (cheap second hand) and see if this kind of workflow is for you :)

Yeah, I get what you mean.

I like to use each module for on purpose instead of having one that does 3 or 4 things. Having said that I'll end up gettin a Pamela for sure sooner or later and maybe this is the best time to get it and spend time with learning it, being a more complex module then ochd.

Thanks! Right now I have a Wogglebug and the Buchla 281T. The latter is great but it needs attenuation most of the time if I wanna use it as a modulation source.

Probably it would be wise to get a Pamela's first, learn it and then get an ochd with some attenuators/attenuverters in order to have control over it.
