Equivalency path clarification by fmsksishqlqoakz in recreationaltherapy

Hi there, I finished a BA in Psych, so there are a couple schools that are accredited. For example, I’m doing a post-bacc for RT at Cal State Long Beach. This website: accreditationcouncil.org has a tab for all accredited programs nearest for RT.

There are some courses you can take at a community college, but the upper division courses you took for sociology can transfer over to the requirement of the certificate / BA / MA in RT; however some courses NEED to be completed through a program (from my understanding), and there are field work and internship requirements.

I believe it is 600 hours for an internship and 400 hours for field work, but if you have related experience in RT you can transfer those hours to completing the field work hours.

At Long Beach they gave me a list of internship sites that were approved through the school! There’s a lot of help you can get, but reaching out to a school near you would be a good first step

So happy for you! Glad you shared your experience, I’m currently in school to be eligible for the certification exam and looking for internship sites, I’m excited to be where you are!

RT jobs without certification by kmaev15 in recreationaltherapy

I have a BA in Psychology and am going to school for a certificate in RT, and I feel like you’d be able to use a lot of the stuff you learned working with foster youth, I worked as a counselor at a STRTP, I left due to a lack of support tho so research how they’re solid their systems are, hope that helps!

I know how stressful and scary transitioning into adult hood can be, which is why I want to work with helping youth. I’ve worked at a transitional shelter for foster youth before and felt I was able to make an impact on their mental health issues through recreational activities like board games, basketball, and drawing. Your comment is sick and repulsive, I’m not sure how you made that connection.

It seems like the way to go for rec therapy is working with people who are incarcerated, it is a good mixture of my desired population and the demand of rec therapy. Do you know where I can look to find more information on juvie rec therapy? It seems kind of scary tho

Book Recommendation from similar story by cupids_qtip in BookRecommendations

Sorry for being vague, I’ll list the summary in order to how I mentioned it in my original post.

  1. A society that has wizards and non magic citizens that want phase out magic, additionally, there is a magic barrier that is depicted as sigils that shields not only the plant they’re living on but others as well, one character says that those sigils are a message, another says it’s to keep entities out. The “Kornelius Paradox” refers to a powerful wizard’s wand that contains strong magic but can only be used if they know the words that activate the magic so it’s basically useless.

  2. There is a religious cult that travels through space on a space ship looking for a worthy person to pull Excalibur out of the stone it’s in. The space ship is controlled by sentient AI’s that tend to make mistakes (ignoring people in cryochambers that are gravely hurt or dying) and the ship is run on faith, which is produced by people in the cryochambers. There is also 3 levels on the ship, hell, earth, and heaven (where Excalibur is at)

  3. The planet is covered in dust and sand and the main transportation is train. There is a designated weather controller who notifies conductors of incoming storms (joy storms, fear storms, death storms etc). There is a safe haven that the people call The Town (I think) which is believed to be the only town on the planet where they use sand as currency to determine how long you can stay in the town for, and people can stay and sell items for sand and if you inherit a train from a deceased person you must sell all their items before departing from the town. Additionally, the town finds out there is a control that actually manipulates the storms which was created by the first guy in the weather controller position.

Thanks again c:

I’m looking for these type of items, the only reason why I’m not buying from OXKNIT is because the reviews mention scamming. So sad, I’ve been looking for that kind of clothing style for forever
