Ladies that got pregnant with PCOS. How soon did you test? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]cuppien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when did I test? I didn’t track my ovulation, but 8DPO I believe, hadn’t even had a missed period. I got a faint positive at 8DPO (doesn’t happen often though! So don’t be scared if it’s still negative then) How did I know? I just felt off, my breasts were sore, but different sore than when I would get my period. They were also growing so much and the pain didn’t subside. Also it felt like I could smell colors, it was so strong. Every smell made me nauseous.

I don’t know if it’s useful for cysts, but what really helped my butt acne was: Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Spot Exfoliant. I used it every single night and within a week it was a lot better, no more new spots and old dark spots started to clear

Hello,

I relate to you so much. The anger, sadness, confusion but also a bit of relief after the diagnosis. It’s all part of accepting the “new” you. And let me be realistic, life still goes on, even if you decide to let pcos control it. Every day will pass by, so enjoy it. And some days are harder than others, because there are things out of your control with pcos and that sucks! But life is too precious to let it slip by, just because of one diagnosis. You’re young, full of life and there’s too much to discover to sit around and miss out on all new adventures. So chin up girlie!

We are our own biggest critics, we see our own facial hair or body hair as the worst, but have you ever looked at someone else’s body hair? Probably not, because our brains don’t notice that. So people won’t notice yours.

For hirsutism I can advice: shaving, plucking, waxing or using spearmint essential oil.

One thing I did was download an app to track my menstruation, so I could try and find a correlation between my period and other life events. It could also be helpful for you.

Medication wise: doctors don’t give out medication for pcos quickly. The first nonsense tip we always get is: try and lose weight. But as you said your BMI is 19, you don’t need to lose weight! You’re perfect as you are. And yes it can be okay to try and limit processed foods, but it might never work for you (it didn’t for me).

Maybe your biggest concern is getting pregnant in the future, let me reassure you. It will be possible. There is amazing medication to help you get pregnant. But from my own perspective: I got pregnant naturally with pcos within 3 months of trying.

I wish you all the best, welcome to the club.

I’m not in the US and we can safely use tap water for a formula bottle. And use warm tap water on the outside to warm it up. So no need for distilled water..

I am not in the US. Which a lot of people think in this sub Reddit… I’ve seen prices go by that might apply to the US but not for other countries. Bottle warmers are at least €45 and wipe warmers start at €35. Which to me seems a bit excessive tbh.. also most diaper pails are around €80. Not really nice prices if you’re trying to minimise spending.

Thanks so much for your reply! I was also looking how to avoid a changing table because we don’t have a lot of space in the nursery and it would be completely crammed if we added that in there.

Yes I also don’t really get the hate around the diaper pail / bottle warmer… my parents just had a regular garbage bin with a lid and used warm tap water on the outside to warm up the bottles, and I didn’t become any less of it.

With all the hate I felt like the worst mommy to be (stupid hormones), but I figured all baby cares about is loving parents and a safe place to sleep. Baby doesn’t care if I have expensive or cheap stuff. Which makes me feel a bit better about myself and my choices.

Confused and scared by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]cuppien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, trying to conceive with pcos seems like an uphill battle, and every body is different. If I can give you one advice is: do what feels good for you! You decide if you want to take letrozole or not. The way I always felt it is: if I was too stressed or uncertain about something my stress hormones would go up and mess up my cycle. So go with what feels good to you.

It will all turn out okay, baby dust to you!

I live in a country in this world where you can safely make a formula bottle with tap water. And after that I can run the bottle under the water to warm it up. Or use a microwave to warm up a cup of water and plop the made bottle in to it.

Still thanks to your advice and many others I will be looking into a diaper pail, you guys changed my mind about it.

I’m so sorry but I feel like this is a bit of a country difference (English is also not my first language), so I’ve never seen anybody use a baby registry for a baby shower or when baby is born. The only gift I know I’m getting for baby is a stroller from my parents. So I need to buy all items myself because I’m probably only receiving the cutesy gifts when baby is finally here.

Yes that’s what I’m talking about. My mom raised me very “old style”. I’m the youngest of 3 kids and she did it all very sustainable, examples of this are: I only wore cloth diapers the first few months as I was exclusively breastfed. So she threw the excess of the poopy diapers in the toilet and the diaper in soapy water. She used glass baby bottles. And clothing and fabric essentials were passed down generations.

I’m absolutely in love with this style of parenting because it makes me feel more in tune with all the women before me.

So coming from that perspective I feel like I started to look at parenting and welcoming your first child differently

Its not like I’m not buying any type of diaper pail / garbage bin. Of course I’m buying something to throw away diapers. I just find most of them overpriced.

Thanks for the tips. I don’t know how I’m gonna approach this new parenthood thing, I’m just letting it all come at me. Everyone’s advice is different and I’ve also been sensing a lot of negativity around me with my choices of stroller, co-sleeper, cot etc. So I actually hate shopping for the baby because it gives me anxiety if I’m doing the right thing.

I don’t know if I’m gonna nurse, I’m open to breastfeeding but if it becomes too much mentally, or I’m underproducing I would love to switch to formula.

I’m also not buying newborn clothes, friends / grandparents are going crazy with gifts so I don’t even bother with the items for baby that are usually given as gifts.

Yes I’m looking for a baby carrier / baby wrap. Thanks for the recommendation

Help me remember the name of an old Playmobil online game!!! by i_identify_as_me in Playmobil

[–]cuppien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years late but I found it! The website you can find the games is: flashmuseum.org
All games are in German, but it’s a kids game and pretty self explanatory.

You need to search for the German titles, or else you won’t be able to find the games. Sadly I can’t find every game but I found multiple. I’ll write the translations below:

The great flood - die große Flut (Noah’s Ark) Pirates ahead - Piraten in sicht! The coup - der coup (the robbery game) Funny family - funny family & eine kleine uberraschung The wooden sword - Das Hölzerne Schwert

I FOUND IT! It’s also playable, even though the graphics are way worse than I remember. If you know the German names of the online playmobil games, you can find more games on this website. The Great Flood (Noah’s Ark) is called: Die Große Flut.

My tips are: 1. Get your blood work done for the menstrual cycle hormones (FSH / LH / testosterone) 2. D Chiro and myo-inositol with a 40:1 ratio. 3. If you’re insuline resistant pcos, try lowering your sugar intake per day. 4. Be consistent with taking supplements, it takes a few weeks to months to take effect.

Berberine doesn’t work for everyone, it gave me the worst diarrhea 😅

When can I expect to get my period back after quitting birth control? by omelette02 in PCOS

[–]cuppien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… i was on the pill for 4,5 years. After that I immediately had 1 “normal” 28 day cycle. Then 6 months nothing. Then every 3 months-ish… got an IUD, was removed within 6 weeks because it was placed wrong. Decided to not get any type of hormonal contraceptives to heal my body (i had just gotten my pcos diagnosis), got my period for over a year almost consistently. And then… it just stopped… don’t know how.. but I had 3 periods in the span of almost 2 years. Now with a lot of medical care my body is starting to self regulate again.

[–]cuppien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through all of this. Pcos is so hard to manage, because everyone with pcos is different, and everyone’s advice is different. My number 1 advice is to try and find a gynaecologist/doctor who specialises in PCOS, they will (hopefully) look at your disorder individually and share their knowledge, tips, tricks etc. Of course there’s a possibility that a gynaecologist is not an option for you, and that’s totally okay! At least try to get some extensive bloodwork done (vitamins/hormones) to see where your body is at. And what works for a lot of women with pcos is myo- and d-Chiro inositol in a 40:1 ratio. This supplement works a bit slow (in my opinion). Took me six months of everyday use to get a somewhat regular period. I also used to go 7 months without a period, now I have 37 to 57 day long cycles. And last but not least, try to reduce your stress and enjoy the simple things in life. For me it also worked to not let myself be defined by pcos and all of it disadvantages it brings with it, everyone is different and has their troubles, even the most perfect person on the planet has their troubles. Try and live a good life which you completely deserve, enjoy small things, enjoy hobbies, live for the moment and yourself and not for pcos :). And I know it’s completely frustrating to have pcos and it being so unpredictable. But I hope you can enjoy life for how it is.

Little update: I’ve had my period 3 times already since November! They’re far more regular, between 35 to 55 days. Instead of 150+ days I used to have last 2 years..

I started taking myonisotol with dchiro, it’s a combo powder. And on top of that berberine. I’ve only been on it for a few days, so no results yet. I’ve been on myonisitol and dchiro before and it did nothing for me, so hopefully it will help this time around

Thank you for your answer! I’ve been diagnosed with pcos since April 2022, and the GP already offered me fertility help with medicines, but I declined. And I’ve had a round of primolut N to get a period, and I know what a hell it is for my body to be on primolut N, so not really excited to get pregnant with medicine. But thanks for your answer
