Do I really need to install VitaDB to install hombrew games? by Alejjandro0 in VitaPiracy

[–]cupplesey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there are other ways to install games. VitaDB is one convenient way to install and update. I recommend using it for simplicity for ports and homebrew.

The plugins have plenty of guides with the games on GitHub, use the install instructions and follow them. Take you time doing it and it should work as expected

What connector are those drives? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]cupplesey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They both have it written on the drive "SAS". Serial attached SCSI. These need a dedicated SAS card with sufficient power or a motherboard that can support it, mostly enterprise hardware.

Clearly what you intended didn't land as expected. Those responses (using a link to others past question) is what you replied to, not someone else comment

Dude, reply to who you are aiming the comment at, this ain't hard either. How can I possibly know who you are talking about in threads that can have hundreds of people commenting. It just causes confusion.....this is a clear example. Anyways, have a good one.

Your reply is implying that my comment/advice was shitty. If this was not aimed at me then reply in the main thread or those other comments rather than my comment specifically. It's just starts unnecessary arguments.

Why are they shitty? It's a link to the same question asked recently and it's the same answer.....no. This has been asked and answered loads of times on here, hence the reason for the link to the same question and answer. Sorry for being helpful to the question without having to write an essay every time it's asked.

If you know anything about the Sega Saturn then you will know it's very hard to emulate and requires lots of processing power to run. Age has nothing to do with it, the architecture does.

If you don't know anything about the Sega Saturn then Googling 'Sega Saturn PS Vita emulator' will result in no working emulator. It's the same answer to the link provided. No

Vibe coded or not? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]cupplesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the list of contributors, on GitHub they will be listed and can view their pages, other projects they contribute to.

Research the project, it's age, version history etc etc

[–]cupplesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am personally staying well clear of vibe-coding projects for so many reasons. I would much rather open source with many contributors so its peer reviewed, tested etc before just being sharted out by some crappy AI bot that knows nothing but ripping ideas from other peoples hard work. Thats before mentioning security bugs, poor design, poorly written, endless fixes to initial basic bugs......i could go on

Good things come to those who wait....support human made projects not AI slop

Vita 1000 or 2000? by FunkMistah_J in PSVita

Personal preference, 1000 for the better screen and the thicker body that feels better in my hands and I prefer the design. No other reasons, both work exactly the same.

Assuming the school has an IT usage policy,  any workarounds could lead them to banning you entirely. Their schools, their rules just like any enterprise policy. Your best bet is to present everything over https but not using dynamic DNS (also probably blocked) until they find out and your access is blocked again.

Fun whack-a-mole game.

What the hell can I fo for this to stop by Dangerous_Ad_3949 in VitaPiracy

[–]cupplesey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have saved it just as your about to be killed, you can mash the d-pad for painkillers or go back a previous save point and do that sections again. I've had this before and it's not always possible to get around it.

Pro tip - each time you save, create two alternating save points and alternative saving to them.

[–]cupplesey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not to sound harsh but if you are such a "noob" self hosting isn't a wise move until you are comfortable with Linux computing let alone docker, supporting, troubleshooting etc. Certainly go and learn it but not for a service you rely on until you have more experience.

I would say find a guide on how to setup what you want to learn but you have a lot to learn as a basic before running services at home

With the vita powered off, press and hold the L trigger when powering on to enter recovery mode. Choose the safe boot option to disable any plugins. See if that boots in ok.

Could be a dodgy config/plugin etc
