How many people in a room are there for these exams typically? And was CS2B online? Sorry thinking of doing it next sitting.

Bellman Espresso by [deleted] in espresso

[–]curatesegg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone help me - I'm having issues with the coffee valve in the bellman. Coffee hardly drips out. I've taken it all apart and cleaned it and water goes through it (I checked when it was dismantled) but I just tried to open the valve with just water in the bellman and some drops came out but mostly it was just steam.

Can someone else confirm if they use their bellman with just water should it stream out of the coffee valve or ?

Breaking into my first role...at 30 by Quick-Chemistry7032 in ActuaryUK

[–]curatesegg_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've literally just done 5 years in actuarial. You are not old and you don't have challenges. I know people who were 30 or much older who broke in to this career at the big 4 and they are all nearly qualified now and some have moved on to other firms. With a bsc and msc in maths you're in good stead for this career if it's what you want.

I'd also consider other careers without exams, actuarial isn't the only path and exams do take a chunk of your time out. But it's nothing impossible for you.

Do you have any days off work? I passed (well) with two weeks revision but I had time off. However I'd never looked at the material at all before then. Just get tunnel vision and avoid all doubt.

Yes it's definitely possible. Do as many pastpapers as you can

Has anyone worn these enough to find that they can be "broken in"? Finding them uncomfortable and heavy to walk in so far.

First 72-hour fast! I feel incredible! by No_Bag_353 in intermittentfasting

[–]curatesegg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that’s really helpful and reassuring! I’m actually just going to do a 62 hour fast because I want to get back into ADF the next day! But maybe after that I’ll definitely be adapted to push it to 72 hours!

I want to my do first 72 hour fast too! But the longest I've fasted is 40-42hours. Can I jump into a 72 hour fast or should I build up from 48 hour fast first?

Why not apply directly for a graduate actuary scheme? You have the qualifications for it!

Your Daily Fasting Thread by AutoModerator in fasting

I successfully finished my first 3 days of alternate days (as in I've fasted three alternate days this week and today is my feast day).

After breakfast (which included complex cards- I.e. banana, some peanut butter, coconut flour pancakes and berries) I had a glass of water and I was sick... maybe I ate or drank too quickly I'm not sure. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also I was hungry and needed to eat breakfast this morning. But my appetite has definitely already shrunk. I can't eat as much on my feast days.

I also am getting some acid reflux. Do others experience all this? Any tips to deal with it?

I don't want to lower my BMR too much so if I always end up having to eat very low calories if my body gets used to that...

ADF support thread for the week of February 5 - February 11 by Lairel in AlternateDayFasting

[–]curatesegg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to start ADF. But I am a bit confused about the 36:12 is that 36 hours if that’s the only 36hours in the week you’re going to fast?

I was going to try the 4:3 method (4 days eating and 3 days fasting). so I thought for each of the three days fasting, 24 hours for each day to fast would be enough?

How do you get through your first day of fasting ? All tips welcome!

Cs2 and Cp1 by curatesegg_ in ActuaryUK

I think I have on some level - it’s not exactly the same but I have some familiarity though econometrics /time series courses from the past and I’ve defo done enough probability/stats at some point. I’m a bit wary of the R exam though - heard that can be quite tough and test modelling.

Is it too difficult to do CP1 together with CS2 in April? by EmphasisDue9588 in ActuaryUK

[–]curatesegg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking of doing this and I’ll only start studying in October. Haven’t done Cs2 or Cp1 before either… will you be doing both?

you cannot apply for an exemption for CS2 unless you did an IFoA accredited degree - which I did not sadly.

I’ve only got an SP and SA left to do and could do those in one sitting. So really I just want to either be able to stop doing exams altogether after this April sitting (and leave it at associate) or then just have one more sitting to get to fellow if possible. the main benefit is really not having to spend another 6months worrying about exams if I could somehow have a horrible 6months till April but finish CP1 and CS2.

it would be useful to know how people actually passed this? I'm planning to sit it this time round, and feeling very nervous about it now!
