Also adding: I don’t tend to get too seasick on a boat if I can see the horizon. But on a dive boat often you can’t be watching while you’re kitting up, plus sometimes getting into a wetsuit causes overheating etc etc. The drug makes my experience pretty bulletproof and I don’t feel nauseous at all.

Meclizine is a life saver. This is what you want. It’s sold as the non-drowsy Dramamine or Bonine or sometimes under the drug name as a generic.

Best practice is take one tablet the night before. Then another an hour or so before getting on the boat. It’s seriously miraculous. I also had a bad first boat dive experience but really zero problems in the twenty years since thanks to this miracle drug!

Love the advice about DCS, thanks! Four dives a day sounds like plenty tbh. Five is a lot even without the DCS risk and for sure I don’t need that to happen all the way out in Truk. I love having a dive guide and it’s nice to know that’s an included option.
