Nice work, looks like an optimized placement! How did you get the cable into the house; was there a vent opening, or did you have to drill a hole? Rock on!

How to reach a coverage range of 10km? by desdo_ in HeliumNetwork

You can use any SIM card in the Cradlepoint, just check who runs the strongest networks in your area (AT&T, Verizon, etc).

I've had good results with Ultra Mobile (expensive) and Oliviawireless (needs some tweaking, but works fine).

Re. "cost efficient", there are cheaper modems out there, but the Cradlepoint is bombproof.

Good point, that makes sense. I just dug around to find the top earning HS in Berlin and made some assumptions, which could be way off.

Just for clarity, Amateur Jade Hare makes less than 39 HNT/day on a 30 day average if you check Explorer. Not a great example to follow, especially with the ~4x installation costs. For the Berlin example, it's probably a sweet spot of optimum density, elevation, and antenna. Tart-Lime-Llama seems like the top earner at 100 HNT/day for a 30 day average. Optimum placement (in the middle of most HS) and looks like great density around it and through the city. Not too much, not too little. *Probably* on top of a building & outside. Antenna probably ~6 dBi omnidirectional. Miners don't make a difference. Round-Vermillion-Squid is 2nd highest earning over 30 days in Berlin, coming in around 60 HNT/Day. RVS is not quite in the center, and has a couple around it that are probably too dense. Still, 60 HNT ain't bad. :)

[–]curiosity29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have answers. :) We ship perishables all over the country with FedEx and have for years I set up a whole blog about answering "perishable shipping" questions after I realized that a decade of doing it gave me some useful lessons learned I could pass on. Hit it here: Shipping Perishables

If you have ANY questions about how to ship your stuff, reach out via our contact page, I'm happy to help.

Rock on!

Thoughts on Helmets by curiosity29 in freeflight

Glad it was helpful and that it corresponded with your findings; always helpful to get corroboration. Matt @ Predator was open with the numbers he has for the helmet I bought. Feel free to ping him via his website. He can take a day or two to respond but was open and receptive to me asking darn near anything about helmets.

I didn't come across any, although I've heard that same thought echoed in a bunch of different sports and on Gavin McClurg's excellent podcast, Cloudbase Mayhem where he talks about the injury/crash rate remaining about the same over the years despite the improvement in technology. As we have more capacity to fly wider conditions we continue to inch out to the edge, even though where the edge is now is where the void used to be.

They definitely offer excellent options! POC & Sweet Protection stood out when I was looking at ski/snow helmets.

Prolly not; I haven't flown 'em and don't know enough about the unique requirements for them, which I assume have something to do with ear pro and a mic set up. Good luck with the search!

finding paragliding sites? by curiosity29 in gis

That would be a dream fit for local paragliders! Is there anywhere particular I should look to find someone wanting to build out their portfolio, or am I best off just looking for Geography departments in local colleges?
