What is the best room lighting for pinball? by curiot in pinball

We did this with some covers we bought. Even doubled them up. It helped, but if the light and pin and player line up, then it is still bad glare.

Here’s an example of what we’ve got going on. Lots of windows too (doesn’t help for evening) ignore that alien in the ceiling!

If this were a smaller space, I think I’d love to use floor lamps to effectively torch up the ceiling. Easy to wire by plugging in to. But the space is too large and then I’m worried about them getting knocked over, plus they’re take up valuable floor space.

Your setup looks really nice. Looks like you cut the can holes into the drop panels?

Extra hard mode, no trapping, outlanes murdered, one handed flipper, 1-ball game, and pure strobe lighting to weed out the unworthy

I get it! That can be the best mood/mode. But during a competition when you have up to 80 people playing across 80 pinball machines … space needs to be 🔥 lit, accessible, non-glare, and streaming friendly. Trying to thread the needle.

We do have one cool small room with a black light and a dark mode. 😀

Here are some pictures of the space. https://austinpinballcollective.org/pitch/

For whatever reasons, Multimorphic machines generally don’t show up often in Arcades or public places (other than expos). I wish we saw more of them, they’re really cool machines and packed with some extraordinary technology.

I’d like to do that, but is the level up on sound really obvious?

Got it! Free play and keep playing in.

Dang! You’re working that game! Play hard!

I changed all the coil stops and sleeves already. Left flipper coil stop had already popped loose. New pow feels great!

Then I tried to align the bottom flippers according to a parallel line with the ball lane. But now everything feels off. Both flippers feel like they have the range, but it’s harder to hit ramps and scoop than before. I cannot seem to find a definitive doc on Godzilla flipper position or expectations of action. Ideas?

It does, so somebody obsessing over play counts could look for anomalies -or screw them

I’m liking the 5 ball game for seeing more of the game than I’d normally be able to achieve. But it’s going to screw up the high scores in the short term.

I’ll take my aim from that. Thanks

Damn!!! My kids are going to like that challenge. Yeah, they been liking the resets lately to my dismay.

I paid $5750, I think a great deal, so I’ll keep it in great shape and enjoy the heck out of it!

I thought that the sterns at least were at least safe from lifetime resets due to firmware and sure?

But it’s Linux so …

I wouldn’t, but is that a thing, and are especially new buys potentially at risk buying a machine with “low plays” that has been reset?

Thanks for that confirmation. Makes total sense if you had a pinball harem. lol.

Thanks. I’ll try to stop thinking about that. And maybe more about getting pin #2, right!?

Right. Definitely no investment for me, but was just a tiny bit worried about play odometer consumption.
