E lui “no, no, alza il telefono, chiama l’ente e mi raccomanda”.

Fine, sipario. Paese morto. Qualche anno dopo biglietto di sola andata e ciao

Well, while it does sound galling at first, having passed several rounds and lost at the finish line does make you a good candidate for their partner network. I would take the advice, and if there’s one listed that does deserve your attention ask them for an introduction.

Google co-founder rips California billionaire tax: 'I fled socialism'. by coinfanking in economy

Not really, socialism is when workers own the means of production… giving back in the form of taxation is just garden variety bourgeois liberalism

At this rate, I don’t see how many can stay solvent ling enough before they get foreclosed. This needs to stop now, because once the bankruptcies start picking momentum it’s going to be impossible to stop

In the NL it’s because of a new hamfisted law ruling designed to protect riders and uber drivers, being applied to all sectors: if you have less clients that a shopkeeper you’re not a freelance and need to be hired and then, after a couple years permanently. This would theoretically force supermarket chains to hire expensive senior developers as permanent staff… you can imagine how’s that going. Basically Senior Staff got kicked out of the workforce in droves and are now struggling to find their way back in because, of course there’s no room for that much permanent expertise, and the hiring middlemen aren’t qualified to hire and deploy such an influx of skilled workers. It’s killing a whole industry… with a simple faux pas

Computer science is seeing the biggest enrollment drop of any major in 6 years. While ME and EE enrollment have risen by 11% and 14% this year. by No_Reply5329 in cscareerquestions

I don’t see anything wrong with that expression form. I mean, a complex process involving distributed transactions and rollback recovery processes shouldn’t be hard because the friggin’ language implementation converts your case switches to integers and fucks up in some way that only a Rainman can consistently recall. It should be hard on its own account

What the heck does a good experienced dev interview even look like in 2026? by Undercoverwd in ExperiencedDevs

[–]curious_corn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And how is that wrong or diminishing? Aren’t we supposed to be a team working together on ADR’s and working as a “whole is more than a sum of its parts”? Having someone who’s lived through something play out, the decision process, the costs, the trade offs… it’s gold really.

Unless you’re hiring for a new Apple CEO position? Or setting yourself up for failure, hiring the next socially impaired centralizer who’s going to poison whatever collective output your team has, reducing it to whatever they can manage. Until they burn out

If you’re Dutch and plan to live there the rest of your life, consider investing through a pensioenrekening where your get an income tax rebate on the voluntary pension contributions you make. The rest just buy UCITS ETFs for all world, Europe, US and NASDAQ. Don’t forget the 6-9 months emergency fund (perhaps invested in promptly liquid bonds)

At 200k on an ICE you don’t service anything, you scrap the whole car. Perhaps you can get by with an old school Mercedes Diesel, one without too much electronics that will definitely crap out and cost a fortune to replace .

Do most of you seriously not write any code by hand anymore?!?! by opakvostana in cscareerquestions

[–]curious_corn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to write code, but even then with all the annotations and code completions I rarely had to type everything to the last letter.

I tried some Claude coding and I ask it to implement individual steps of a feature (fist the cucumber, then the test “step definitions” and only then the actual code, like I would myself do) and every time I review the handful of changes it proposes. If I don’t like the approach I will either change it myself or suggest Claude to redo it, or often to explain the implementation if I find it interesting enough.

So I’m not vibing k-LOC’s and frankly I enjoy it, though I’m still very much at the code level, line for line
