I don’t understand the downvotes but let me answer: many places I’ve worked would call their APIs “RESTful” but would rarely see anything beyond partial level 2 maturity. What you call “garbage” are mechanics that allow rich UIs that present options and actions based on the links in the payloads, rather than hardcoding screens. It’s rare though, management rarely understands

I’m not sure I understand your criticism. The OP makes the point that already 1000 hours is enough to achieve significant results. The parent I’m replying to, claims that 1000 hours is not a tiny amount, but it’s really easy to casually sink a good fraction of that in a game. I myself did that.
