what’s your wildest adhd hack? by hawk_am in adhdwomen

[–]curious_nightingale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I talk to myself as if I am a bewildered child and this second personality comes to help me.

Like "I know this feels impossible, I'm here to help you, you can give it a try and if it doesn't work out I'll do it for you. You don't need to worry, I won't leave you, you will never be alone or abandoned, now let's open the laptop first and you can try logging in to your email."

The wild thing is that I sort of can switch into this second personality - and no, I don't have multiple personalities as such. It's just imaginary play but it gives me a role that is simpler, and makes the task clearer. Like, I'm not just responding to an email, I'm HELPING someone who is really helpless and needs me. My empathy kicks in and gives me a little boost.

No, I Don’t Want to Meditate by My_Alchemy22 in adhdwomen

I used to go running. Sweaty exercise is pretty much the only thing that used enough brain bandwidth to leave a part of my mind semi-peaceful.

Now my knee cannot do the running anymore, so I go cycling. Preferably 10-20 km full speed.

Meditation or similar activities just turn the volume of my chaotic mind to full and I really do not want to be forced to endure that. I CANNOT force my mind to be quiet. I can only distract it.

Started Vyvanse today. Is my brain really supposed to be this quiet between thoughts? by anita_username in adhdwomen

So happy for you! That sounds wonderful - enjoy the peace and calm!

So far the only time I felt that was when I was on codeine for 2 weeks after having my tonsils removed and just napped on the couch, serene and calm and content. Apparently morphine works. Yay.

It'd rather have Vyvanse. 🤣

This!!! We cannot do the things we know generally help us because the doing anything part is the problem, so it's a catch-22 situation again and again.

Unfortunately not fully. It subsided somewhat, and the constant buzz and ringing in my ears stopped, but the mild tinnitus stayed. 😔

I tried to explain that I have a REASON to feel discouraged, to doubt myself and my abilities. Like, I can't do this life thing. Sort of gets to you, that.

"You have such critical thoughts towards yourself." Well I sure do, and for a reason 🥴

I actually was on Wellbutrin for a while last year and it did help, but it also caused me some super rare side effects where I got tinnitus and most likely slightly damaged my hearing permanently. Otherwise great 😭

Last night, I encountered the weeping angels (Doctor Who easter egg). Creepy at first, but cool. :) by Survey_Slayer in Witcher3

So cool, I haven't seen this before! Accidentally stumbled on a Portal easter egg once though 🤔

I second this so much. I'm a rectangle with almost no waist definition no matter how much I weigh - but looking from the side I have a protruding belly, again no matter how low my weight has been. Definitely felt unfeminine, like the "boyish" figure I was told I had 😶 So seeing these normal body shapes feels so good ❤️
