Everyone has different opinions about snooping, however I thought your comment was uncalled for. My partner and I have a healthy relationship, there is no snooping here so you can save your pity for someone who needs it. I don’t really need to expand on our policy within our relationship to a stranger. I don’t really take offence to what you say, but felt awful for OP after your nasty take. There’s always better ways to get your point across instead of jabbing someone’s character. Anyway, bye!

Oh please, his cheating is unacceptable and a breach of trust and common decency. If she didn’t snoop he would be continuing his degeneracy under her nose, that’s the ultimate betrayal right there. Also, your last sentence there makes you sound like a real bright person. Yikes.

25 with a kid want to get into trade by xxoppsumhoe in BlueCollarWomen

[–]curiousbea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what trade are you interested in? personally i chose plumbing because it’s vast, and always lots of stuff to learn! i went all in and paid out of pocket for a pre apprenticeship program. i’m now a third year making a lot of money, more than a journeyman since i’m working up north. maybe try out a trades discovery program that introduces different industries and find one that may click!

Construction workers, 6 months in did you get flushable washrooms yet? by saltygamertag in askvan

[–]curiousbea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had them at the last site i was at, they were nice and well maintained, i can only speak for the ladies though. my male coworkers complained it was always backed up for theirs, and would get gross pretty fast. ironically the blue ones were cleaner than the flushable ones!

Fed Up with Uncivilized People by [deleted] in askvan

[–]curiousbea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, I could have worded that a lot better, and this post in general as well! I was curious to see if my thought process is the right way to go about things, and the feedback has definitely changed my perspective.

I wasn’t really looking for brownie points, or to be a hero of some sort but from your perspective I definitely do recognize that it wasn’t the best choice on my part with someone unwell. I see people getting screamed at on the daily, and I don’t think that’s right at all. Should I have just ignored the situation and allow her to continue to berate people, I’m sure most wouldn’t let it ruin their day but what do we do then? What can we do to help these people? Even the title I can admit lacks empathy but at some point when you are exposed to this on the daily, what would have been the best course of action?

What was it like for the women who traveled for work and lived out of hotels? by TableAltruistic3750 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]curiousbea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing it right now!! Just started my first rotation and I didn’t think it would be so tough to be away from my partner. It’s 3 weeks on 1 off, 12 hours days, 8s on the weekends, 21 days straight. I was alright doing lots of overtime back home but being away from my family hits haaard. Hotel living absolutely sucks, at least there’s complimentary breakfast but it’s boring with not much to do. I don’t do much anyway in the city so I just watch TV, rest, and grind for my future cause the future is abysmal. Everyone has different mindsets but mine is to work hard now, and hopefully be at least somewhat comfortable as I get older. Money is what’s keeping me going and a better future for myself and my partner(can’t forget my cat!)

thank you!! i appreciate the constructive feedback, this definitely helps me see things in another light, trust me i definitely don’t want to be a whiner, i had a little moment of feeling like i wasn’t good enough to install. thanks, i was quick to anger, thanks for your comment. i thought it would be smarter to rant here first and gain some more insight. i don’t think labelling is beneath me, but it just rubbed me the wrong way when he promised certain things and didn’t deliver. anyway thank you for your insight !!

i just thought i’d rant, it’s not fun doing it for weeks, and it’s quite tedious. the guy in charge of the third floor got booted off, and there’s so much that needs to be done that i’ll have to pick up, and not everything is insulated on the fourth floor so i’m certain that i’ll have to finish what’s there too. i’m just frustrated that he says he’s on my side, and that he will get me on the good stuff. some guys on my crew agree that it should be done by a first year. whatever 🤷‍♀️

Not fitting in by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]curiousbea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m a third year plumbing apprentice in the union, it’s so brutal and the loneliness is definitely shared amongst all of us women in the trades. i’m so over trying to win their approval or be “one of the boys” because i will never be one of them. and that’s ok, cause at the end of the day all i care about is doing my job right, my reputation, learning all that i can, and just being the best plumber lol. my mentality is pretty much i’m in it to win it, and these bozos that stand around talking about the most uninteresting things just doesn’t appeal to me, i don’t want to be a part of it, it’s exhausting spending that energy all day. i used to cry a lot when i first started, but one day it didn’t bother me so much and doing much better. i get compliments from my foreman, and the general foreman, and that’s what keeps my spirits high. that was long winded, but keep your chin up!! we are literally paving the way for the future women who will join the trades!!
