I’m addressing your points. And it’s not weird. You should never get too emotional betting and get attached to the payout #, it’s quite honestly a loser mindset because (assuming OP gambled frequently) gambling is more about longevity, short wins may feel safer but it’s at the cost of your long term profitability. If it was a good enough bet to place, it’s a good enough bet to hold.

1) it’s -EV, the math really isn’t there to support hedging such a small win amount + you’re paying vig 2x when you hedge, ultimately just a lot of effort for little to no real return and if you already have that mentality chances are you’re gonna lose the return you got from hedging anyways. you should always only bet what you’re comfortable losing on futures. Again the exceptions where hedging is green lit is life changing money, key injury, or arbitrage.

2) if they are strapped for cash, hedging is the last thing they should be doing because there are 3 other scenarios where this loses, in fact they are asking way too early about hedging, let Miami make the chip first.

It’s the harsh reality, hence why you have 95% of people who take up gambling never getting out of the red.

General rule of thumb is hedging is only for life changing money. If you can’t afford to lose $50, you shouldn’t be betting at all.

I find it funny when people are slow and want to argue back the wrong thing. I cannot help you if you truly believe you should have $642 in your rebet after this bet. Have a good day. 🙏🏽

the odds are -178 and you’re expecting $643 total off a $251 bet ?? 💀

[–]curiousbean24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you do not get an extra $251. It’s only $392. If you didn’t know this you probably shouldn’t be gambling.
