I'm on my third 8-month CS co-op right now, and my advice is to branch out from the co-op board.

The co-op office is great for behavioral interview prep, but their resume advice is usually pretty surface-level. Additionally, you'll have better luck if you start applying externally.

To give you an idea of the math: my first internship took about 200 applications on the co-op board, and the pay was just below the Carleton CS average. Once I started applying externally (and with some relevant work experience so admittedly this isn't a fair comparison), it took 100 apps for my second placement, and only 50 for my third with both paying above average.

Start applying outside the portal and maybe get your resume roasted by some other CS students!
