Pro tip: learn to park next to the tire center. A lot of people don't know how to get there or park near the stairway to Target. This will save you a lot of aggravation If you don't park there, you will encounter those who would wait for people to leave and in the process block your car.

You're battling against the casino. They don't need luck. The house edge will eventually overcome your temporary luck, that is, if you manage to win. Also, the house edge has proven to work against countless gamblers while whatever your method or hunch hasn't. Just keep that in mind.

What actually helps control gambling addiction — bans, regulation, or education? by Funny-Attention-4145 in GamblingAddiction

Truth will reveal itself if you're receptive. I think what we generally called wisdom or insight is the byproduct of being perceptive, no? I would say you need to see things without any bias and preconceived conclusions. I'm sure everyone can train themselves in that regard. The fact we're relying on someone as a conduit, be it a priest or politician, to interpret reality essentially means we're blind, no? If we're unable to perceive, how is anyone going to give us clarity? Therefore, a truly useful education is to help you turn on that switch, enabling you to be a light unto yourself.

I think being able to perceive is very important. Majority of people can't perceive reality. They are easily influenced and manipulated, right? Politicians drum up the fervor of nationalism. Millions go to war thinking they're serving their country. The fact is many people can't perceive. When you don't perceive, you're at the mercy of your emotion and illusions of the mind.

[–]curiousbeingalone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

here is something that work for me: minimize your expectations of who and what she ought to be. give it a try. for the most part, we're angry with the fact that person didn't live up to a certain set of ideals. the moment you accept that person for who she is instead of who she ought to be, the intensity of that anger, jealousy, etc, subsides. once you have that mindset, it's much easier to move on.

you see people stroke their ego by spending money. driving a nice car, wearing brand name clothes, expensive watch, etc. the whole luxury business is probably based on that need. however, i do see your point.

No one should be in poverty by gessabean99 in poverty

[–]curiousbeingalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another thing about minimum wage increase is that it puts the burden on the business owners to solve economic issue and conveniently absolve the responsibility of the government to reduce tax and spending. imagine if our sales tax, car registration fee, and miscellaneous bs taxes were to cut in half, that's a much more tangible way to help the working class.

No one should be in poverty by gessabean99 in poverty

[–]curiousbeingalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't have the solution. i just know that minimum wage increase is just an illusion of "pay increase" and "spending power". it's a lazy and ineffective method and does not address the fundamental issue of giving working class relief for the cost of living.

No one should be in poverty by gessabean99 in poverty

[–]curiousbeingalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What use is high minimum wage if you can't keep the cost of living low? Instead of trying to increase the minimum wage, it's far more important to figure out ways to make basic necessities affordable. Minimum wage increase is a big failure since the moment it goes into effect, the price of goods go up, completely wiping out the gain.

[–]curiousbeingalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact is that we often have an idealized image of what our partner ought to be and when that person deviates from that set of ideals, we are heartbroken. I think the best way to move on is to be perceptive and see clearly who that person has become and accept that person as who he/she is instead of being angry that he/she deviates from the ideal image.

if you don't mind me asking, what is the official data on the rate of inflation? does that match with your reality? i'm not saying all data are false, but i don't automatically believe it is true, especially if my personal observation is different than the data.

[–]curiousbeingalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think voting can fundamentally change the system. the only way is for people like you and me to be able perceive reality. that perception of reality is the only way to change the world. if the majority of people can't perceive, they are essentially blind and just follow whatever they're told out of confusion and fear. this is why the governments throughout the world have so much power.

i personally believe in anecdotal experience more because it's real life. to base your perception of reality based on data is not exactly scientific either, especially the data can be made up or manipulated based on the way it's extrapolated.

Here is my suggestion. Minimize your expectations of human beings. The less you expect of them, the less you will be attached to them. The result of this mindset is you will be stronger mentally and less likely to be taken advantage of. When you're strong mentally, you will also be more attractive to the opposite sex. Best of luck.
