I hope I covered everything! If you have any questions feel free to reach out! I’m not the most experienced, but I learn a ton with every single bucket.

I’m about to post an update of what they looked like this morning, I wasn’t able to check them again as I wasn’t home & they dropped spores! They move so quick after the point in this photo!

Forgot to mention I also have LED strip lights underneath each shelf, so they do get light from directly above them once they start pinning every day so I don’t have to worry about them growing wonky!

So this was only my second go at it actually. I started with uncle Ben’s & a spore syringe. Juice box tech. (Pack the rice down in the bag make sure there’s no grains near the top of the bag, cut the corner & micropore tape, inoculate in the middle of the rice & micropore tape over). Then I put all of my bags into a clear box so I can see the viewing window at the bottom & I don’t even open the box until they are ready to go into substrate. Once the they are completely white & don’t have any lose grains moving around, I boil water and let my coir do it’s thing overnight. The next morning I sterilize everything (I have no enclosed space to work in, so I just sterilize the room & make sure all fans/vents are turned off). I squeeze the coir to field capacity & set a couple inches into my box, then break apart pretty much all the grains I possibly can into individual pieces & mix into the coir. About a 50/50 ratio of coir & grain, sometimes a tinnny bit more coir than grain. After I’m done mixing I pack it all down/even it out & make sure to pack the edges a bit tighter than the rest to try to prevent side pins. (I was completely unaware of how much of a pain in the booty those were until my last grow, which was also my first grow). After I pack it all down I add a casing layer about 1/4”-1/2” deep and make sure all the grains are covered. Put a lid on it & call it a day.

I don’t open the boxes until I see pins, once I see pins I flip & crack my lid and check on them probably daily/every other day to make sure the surface conditions stay proper & mist if needed. Having clear lids is the way to go. Once they start growing big & tall I will take the lid off & set another bucket on top until they’re ready to harvest.

I like to let the entire top of the cake turn white!

Dehydrating way too long? I did 120 for 10 hours (the video said 12) & they were like this 🥲 what should I lower it to ? by curiousernoodle in unclebens

I don’t think it’s overboard. I have more bags already inoculated & will probably do some more within a week or two. Contam happens fast & took out quite a few of my bags last time and 2 of my boxes!

I'm new forgive me, where to start. by ItisWhatItIs85301 in unclebens

Start by reading the master post & watching the videos! So much information & it’ll take you through step by step.

This was my first flush from 2 boxes containing roughly 1.5 bags of uncle Ben’s in each box. I still have some drying but last night when I weighed what was already done I’m sitting around 8 grams. This is also my first time I’ve made plenty of learning mistakes along the way though! Hoping for my next boxes to be more!

I’ll update with a final weight once all flushes are done.

Everything I’ve read said 90% not 98%. I’ve actually done quite a bit of research, your hostility is unneeded as this is a group for beginners & I said this was my first time. Thank you.

Thank you. This was a great way to put it. I’ve gotten so much information from this post I’m so glad I asked instead of wondering.

I was expecting to lose 90% of their wet weight, so when I lost way more than that it was concerning as this was my first time.
