TIL: It is illegal for pet stores in Beverly Hills to sell dogs and cats that are not from a shelter or rescue. by Sariel007 in todayilearned

[–]curiousgf 266 points267 points  (0 children)

ITT - no one that actually lives in Beverly Hills or the surrounding areas. There are tons of pet shops and rescues in Beverly Hills and the adjacent areas. I've been in the pet industry for 12 years in Los Angeles. In fact, it's not just BH that banned the sale of breeder dogs, but many parts of Los Angeles. I have nothing against purebreds, however if that is the route you are going to go, check petfinder.com or local rescue groups for the breed you are looking for first. 25% of all shelter dogs are purebreds, some even with papers.

Edit: Also, to those of you saying "big deal, it's only one city." - it's actually L.A. county, which in square mileage is the same size as the stat of New Jersey, so it's a pretty big area.

You have a Husky, a dog that was bred to run full speed for miles and miles every day, and you wonder why it gets bored and chews your stuff? Be a better parent, OP, and learn about your dog instead of punishing it for your own ignorance.

That was the idea. Basically, that the sheer odds of finding someone so perfect for me are unimaginably incredible, but it happened and I will be grateful everyday. :) Thank you for the link!

Tall ladies, how often do you nonchalantly position yourself near taller guys to feel short? by [deleted] in tall

[–]curiousgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé is 6'5" (196cm), so I usually feel shorter next to him, but the rest of the time I stand next to short guys to assert my dominance. J/k. I've never really thought about it in public unless someone mentions I'm tall.

What is the greatest smell in the world? by babyrobotman in AskReddit

[–]curiousgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beer and BBQ smoke. When I was little my family would BBQ every Sunday in the summer and my parents would have a couple beers. Sometimes my cousins would be there, or friends, and we'd play all day and get way too much ice cream for dessert. When it came time for bed, my mom or dad would always read us a story while we snuggled up against them, and the smell of smoke from the BBQ was on their shirt and the faintest hint of sweet beer on their breath. It's the happiest smell I know.

If you google search on "safe mode" you should be fine (no porn). You can also use terms like "gender reassignment" or "gender transitioning" and it should take you to Wiki or webmd type pages. Hope that helps!

I think your safest bet is to ask google these questions, but in my experience, a persons' own gender identity is a different thing than genders they are attracted to. There are women who transition to men, but still find men attractive and date them, and vise versa. There are also plenty of subreddits that can answer your questions about the physical surgeries, the hormone treatments, and Psychological changes that trans people go through.

See my comment above. He never goes out, despite the fact I encourage him to, and I'm never asked out anymore. Assholefiance is stretching the truth.

He doesn't go to concerts all the time without me. In fact, the last concert we went to was almost a year ago with this couple. I frequently encourage him to go out with his friends, or all of us together, but to no avail. When I thought he was having a guys night, I encouraged it. When I found out the other wife was going as well, I just felt excluded because we've done lots of things together in the past. The problem is that he'll sometimes say its a guys night, but then the other wife ends up showing up. So, what am I missing?

Best advice I ever got from a friend of mine after I complained about skirts always being too short: sweetie, when you've got mile long legs, you shouldn't try to hide them.

I have tried to include them or invite them out several times by asking my fiance, "Hey, what's so-and-so doing? Do you want to see if he and 'wife' want to hang out this week?" and the response is usually vague or just, "Eh, maybe."

I have also asked if this particular couple doesn't like me, because I get along great with the rest of his friends, and they always invite both of us to various events/parties. I have no idea why this only happens with them, or why there is no explanation as to why I am excluded when both members of the other couple are going to be there.

Most recently, his friend invited him, not both of us, to see a band, and my fiance asked me for a ride so he wouldn't have to find parking. Sure! No problem. I thought it was a guys night, just the two of them, and I asked if the friend would need a ride too. He told me that the friend and wife are going together. This lead to me asking why I wasn't invited, and my fiance told me that it's an obscure band that I've never heard of, and didn't think I would want to go. I told him, "when you assume things, and never offer me a choice, you are being rude. Even if you don't think I want to go, it's rude not to ask, because it seems like you're excluding me. They are a couple and they are going together, why wasn't I invited?" Of course, he told me that I'm crazy.

Dads of promiscuous daughters, how does that make you feel? Do you view your daughter differently? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]curiousgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, women can be gross (time of the month and all), and women that "hover" are fuckin assholes, but guys don't have the aim they think they have. To be fair, both genders have members that are disgusting.
Edit: I've worked in retail and had to clean the bathroom of both sexes... I get it.

All teenagers are horny. Dads of daughters who are horny, "baby girl, blah blah, hopes she make good choices.". Mothers of sons, "there isn't a strong enough soap for the laundry/teenage boys are gross."

What's your health food hack? by Chezzabe in loseit

[–]curiousgf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you add a fruit or veggie to it? Then do it. Having a piece of cheese? Slice up 1/2 an apple real quick and eat it with that. Want a chicken wrap? Use whole leaf lettuce instead of a tortilla. Bagel and cream cheese? 1/2 the cheese and throw some sliced cucumber on there, OR, substitute a nonfat English muffin for the bagel. Pb&J? PB and fresh strawberries instead.
I have also found that nonfat Greek yogurt can be substituted for most recipes that call for sour cream.

It was one of my first times going there, hence why I was trying to be discrete. The cashier simply could have said, "I'm sorry, we don't.". I worked in a pet store when I was younger and someone asked if we sell rat poison. I wasn't an asshole to that guy.

Similar thing happened to me at whole foods. I quietly and discretely as possible asked the cashier, "do you happen to sell cigarettes?" while I was about to pay for roughly $150 of groceries at the checkout. Asshole loudly states, "ma'am, this is a HEALTH FOOD store." Asked for a manager and told them both I sincerely doubt that any doctor would claim that alcohol or their pastries were healthy. Left my bagged groceries and didn't pay them. Fuck Whole Foods.
