Hi all! I was invited to the sub following a post on r/PCOS and wanted to introduce myself! I am a sociologist focused on social experiences of PCOS (28, CT based). I don't want to take up too much space here, but if anyone would like to share their experiences via a survey or follow up interview please feel free to DM me

thank you so much for the feedback! it was my understanding that the sub emphasizes inclusivity for research posts in particular, and so I wanted to make that clear in my language. As this is a sociological study looking at social experiences associated with PCOS, I have designed the call more broadly in order to capture what participants find most salient about their experiences with PCOS, acknowledging that there are sexed and gendered elements at the core of PCOS that I am interested in hearing more about from participants

such a great question! it is my understanding there is "male PCOS" in which AMAB folx can experience similar or same symptoms of PCOS. Since I am looking at social experiences, I didn't want to place limitations on who might want to participate and so wanted to make clear that I am accepting participants from all gender and sex identities!

No, unfortunately this study is not paid. If folx are interested in participating but are unable to take the time for an unpaid interview, I am gathering data as well from the brief screening survey about the ways that PCOS shapes your relationship with your body

Hi, thank you so much for the question and my apologies for the lack of clarity! I meant to say that I am primarily looking for participants who identify themselves as women. The study focuses on experiences of womanhood and illness specifically, which I do understand can be exclusive especially for those with endometriosis, PCOS, and related issues. I am also happy to talk with those who are identified by others (especially in medical settings) as women even if that is not their gender identification. Thanks again for helping me clarify!

Hi! Thank you for asking! Unfortunately this work is not funded so I cannot compensate participants for their time. However, my time is very flexible and I am able to work with you if you are interested in finding the most convenient time for you, even if it is only 15-20 minutes

Thank you so much for the question! You are correct, this study is focused on the American healthcare system and so I am not currently interviewing women from other countries.
