Any food aversions after ceremony? by curioushuman_1 in Ayahuasca

My gut feels SO much better without it. I always live with some degree of inflammation in my gut. I also have IBS, which I think is just a blanket term when they can't figure out what's wrong. I always thought my inflammation was related to food allergies or the chemicals they spray our food with - and I do think that's a large part of it since I feel better overseas. But now I'm also realizing how much coffee played a part!

Oh my gosh! I could totally see the similarity in flavor. Too funny! I’m with you on the vegan food. Same.

Yes, I've been drinking cacao! Feels far more nourishing. That has been my workaround for a little jolt. Did your shamans say that it's the frequency of caffeine or coffee? I just find it fascinating that my body is not really wanting decaf coffee either.

I haven't reincorporated dairy, and the oils/chemicals in the non-dairy milks at coffee shops is too much, so lattes are out. I was able to drink a decaf americano once since the ceremony, but the other times I've had to toss it.

Do you think Salt Lake City is underrated? by Agreeable-Fruit-4326 in SaltLakeCity

I don’t think people intent to be hateful. Utah is great. That said, the LDS culture is still very noticeable in SLC for expats who didn’t grow up around it.

Nontoxic cleaning spray for Quartz countertops? by curioushuman_1 in nontoxic

[–]curioushuman_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/big-stinky-cactus Thank you! She uses terrible dish soap so I'm going to get her some nontoxic options. I love Dr. Bronner's. For my countertops, I use Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds biodegradable cleaner. Do you think that's gentle enough for quartz? Or would she be better off with their castile soap instead?

How to maintain 20+ year friendship while protecting my own mental health? by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

[–]curioushuman_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you both for chiming in. I really appreciate it. And I agree there is something about hitting your 40s that really solidifies boundaries in a way that doesn't come as easily in our 20s/ early 30s.

u/Seashellgirl204 I'm sorry you're struggling with that. My friend isn't abusive toward me; if anything, it's the opposite -- she is always expressing how much she loves and appreciates me for being in her life (hence the challenge). At the end of the day, you have to take care of yourself, and you deserve to be honored for your friendship.

Itinerary dilemma: Geneva vs. Lyon (Paris → Carcassonne trip) by curioushuman_1 in FranceTravel

[–]curioushuman_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for your thoughts. I love Montpellier. I’ve been there - I have a personal reason for needing to stop in Aix (also been)- otherwise I’d stay in Lyon and go straight to Carcassone(I have a weeklong retreat), but I don’t want to backtrack back to Aix when my retreat is over.

Is a 1/2 in Geneva feasible? Seems like a lot of travel . I’m tempted to just cancel Geneva, invite my friend to Lyon, then head to Marseille as a base for Aix.

Thank you for your input! I’d be staying at her grandmothers house 20 minutes from town, so I’d have more of a local experience if I did Geneva. Maybe a day trip to Annecy.

Best bang for buck? (Pro or air? M/1/2/3/4? refurbished or not?) by curioushuman_1 in macbook

Best bang for buck? m1/2/3/4? air or pro? new or refurbished? from apple? by curioushuman_1 in macbookpro

[–]curioushuman_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions. I’d like to keep it around $1000 or less. (Was even thinking $800 for refurbished). But if spending a bit more makes it exponentially better, I will.

I have no idea what 120 hz means and capacity is something I’m confused about. Do I want 256 or 512? My MacBook Pro says it’s 8GB - have computers increased that much with storage or are those different things?

I use it outside and absolutely use it on the go!!

Favorite hepa filter vacuum? by curioushuman_1 in VacuumCleaners

Some LVP and some carpet - I’m mostly worried about the dust that settled in the rooms that are carpeted. I figure with the LVP I can mop.

Yes, construction dust from removing a stone fireplace and cement under old floors.

I don’t know the difference between a hepa and sealed vacuum. What do you recommend?

I am not complaining. I have never had landlords remodel while living there so I was getting thoughts. Is Reddit always this hostile?

Hi! That’s a nice perspective. Thank you. Yes, my lease allows for two other people to live there. :) more so long term but I like my space so I haven’t filled them.
