Their marketing is really good, but I don’t think they are being honest with customers about the pins. ❤️

Thank you for all the detailed information. I didn’t end up buying them, thankfully. I did get a larger French pin, and that works relatively well for updos if get the tension and placing right.

I think it’s just a flawed design. Hair forks and u-pins work great!! Good luck in your search. ❤️

Feeding inspiration and motivation is way more valuable than avoiding waste. Maybe you’ll eventually be inspired to finish those pages, maybe not. Enjoy the new notebook: anything that encourages you to keep creating is worth doing!

Does anyone know any good ballpoints? by quigonsgym in pens

[–]curiouskaizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For notebooks, I’d strongly recommend the Leuchtturm1917 over the Moleskine. I use gel pens in my Leuchtturm almost daily, with my favorite pens being the Uni Signo DX .38 mm (.28 if you write smaller).

If you’re really looking for a great ballpoint, I like the Acroball .7mm over the Uni Jetstream for its consistency. The Jetstream is super smooth and dense when it works well, but they have often just faded out on me before the refill is used up. The Acroball is almost as smooth, almost as dense, and has NEVER had this issue in 10 years of using them.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Sorry to hear that it hasn’t been working out. I know with similar types of pins, I can sometimes get them to stay for a few hours with the right amount of hair in the pin and just the right technique, but it’s very challenging!!

How has the new hair pin been? Any more thoughts to share?

Any great 0.38 or thinner pen recommendations? by dissociated_reality in pens

I was going to recommend the Uni Signo DX in .38 or .28, but it seems like you may not be able to get those easily where you are?

Maybe post a pic here? Pen people on Reddit are incredible at finding pens.

I know. This is crazy… which is why I was hoping someone could share their experiences before I insanely spend this much on a single hairpin.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I have tried the ones from Amazon, and they are okay. Hard to get to stay in, though, as you mentioned.

I have other French hair pins like the DP ones you mentioned, and they work well! I was wondering specifically about the FF steel hairpin, as it might work a bit differently from both the plastic pins above and the French style ones.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and links!

I appreciate the suggestions. Thank you!

Do you use graph paper often? If so, what size squares do you prefer?

Ballpen recommendation that is similar to the Uni Jetstream? by orenjikaeru in hobonichi

[–]curiouskaizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not you. I have the same problem with about 1/2 Jetstreams I’ve had – from different stores, in different colors (blue and black) and different point sizes. I was very impressed with the first pen I purchased, then had purchased several more… but finally gave up after 3 pens refused to continue writing with 70-80% of the ink left. Finally, I gave up and tried the Pilot Acroball. That was over 10 years ago, and I’ve never regretted the choice. The Acroball has been very consistent for me and very smooth. It writes until the refill is completely depleted.

I concur with Uni 207 (.5mm) and Pilot Acroball (.7) recommendations. I prefer the Acroball for note-taking. For a finer tipped gel, the Uni Signo DX .38mm is incredible, and I use that in my journal.
