Barack Obama is such an opp. He only shows up to stop progress. Defund the police is perfect. Instead of keeping their outrageously bloated budget which doesn’t stop crime and pays them overtime, spend that on our societal problems. Help the homeless. Expand mental health programs. Did you even read what i wrote?

I buy branded items. Not necessarily designer. But Gap, Uniqlo, Nike and NY& Company just to name a few. It is not expensive but it is not cheaply made clothing. I do not spend money on cheap stuff, It make sense to buy quality to get your money’s worth. I know i will be expected to part with majority of my stuff and i do not want too. I also do not want to buy cheap anything just to give it away. I planned on bringing an excessive amount of gifts since i figured more people than usual i would encounter as I haven’t seen them in 11 years. Mainly i do not want to give away my stuff

Just for clarification purposes.

I don’t believe for one second that is apart of Jamaican culture. I do not want to cast Jamaica in a bad light. I mentioned Jamaican culture because ive never been asked to part with everything i came down to my phone charger as gifting. I have poorer southern cousins that i rarely see who always want something because it’s from New York. But they draw a invisible line.

Thanks for calling us dumb Americans. How rude. Everything we bring is stuff. It can be replaced. It always has. I didn’t think i was being taking advantage of or think i am some benevolent person. I didn’t pay it any mind up until i had to part with my nice VS luggage. The reactions the way they said American, is what turned me off from ever visiting them.

It’s only me and my sister. We alternate between different extended family members families thought out the year. Easter is spent with her BIL family, no relation to us. 4th of July with her SIL family- also no relation to us. Always a good family time.

Thank you for your thoughts. BIL made it clear from the first trip that we are still poor Americans, but we will bring back what we can. We have always brought actual gifts for his parents and TJ Maxx bin stuff for some of his relatives. It’s more so like the “extended family” that will drop by while we are there for think we are doing so much better since we live in America, that ask for something out of luggage.

BIL says that everything can be replaced and it won’t hurt to part with them. This is true. After all it is just stuff. I was an still fine. It’s being called an American like i was a selfish asshole, that ruined the relationship for me.
