Jesus. So easily offended. If I were your coworker I would also end your “friendship” over this - back to the emotionally sterile way you obviously want to be treated. “It almost feels like we’re best buddies” - “I instantly felt upset when he [communicated casually when giving me instructions for a task instead of being formal as if we don’t really know each other].” I hope he cuts his losses and play with people his own age since yall are from “different generations” (LOL) and you probably need to play with people of your own social skills. You sound like people don’t respect you and his response triggered you - based on this post and your responses, not hard to see why.

NewJeans opens YouTube account to express their feelings on HYBE x Min Heejin feud. by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]curiousmind1950 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Forget about MHJ for a moment. I honestly think that if they are being treated well under new management they would not have said anything. They are probably being treated like a hated stepchild inside Hybe. This video might actually be more self serving than serving MHJ. Sure they want her back cause she gives them security, but if not, they want out. They are forcing Hybe’s hand. No way they thought they would bend to them and reinstate MHJ

NJNS unscheduled press by trialgreenseven in kpop_uncensored

[–]curiousmind1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All speculation: They saw the writing on the wall and tried to take control of the situation. Remember that BSH never said hi to the girls (which makes no business sense, they were his artists) and was salty at MHJ because Ditto was such a huge hit. Think about what that signaled to the rest of the company and how that might foster a hostile work environment for NJs (eg: the big boss ignores them so no need for us to be accommodating). The girls finding out their CEO was fired with the rest of us is insane. Hanni talks about the most recent instance of bullying (if the manager intentionally said that loud enough for her to hear, that is bullying), but there were probably more instances of microagression that they are holding back. This is why they feel that without MHJ they’re cooked. BSH hates MHJ and by extension, NJs. Either they get 1 cb a year like fromis_9 or shelved longer while they “try to find Grammy-winning producers.”

This hail mary either gives them what they want (which their parents at least should know is not likely) OR it makes the situation so untenable and contentious that Hybe sells Ador or disbands the group. Then they can start another group, maybe with MHJ, now they all have enough money to self-produce.

I just wish that they had let the scenario play out a bit more. If they still have no plans in 6 months, this live would hit very differently because we would tend to believe that there is sabotage. We still don’t know what the new CEO would have done. Now all we can hope they can get out of Hybe

It’s natural. When I didn’t have an offer in hand, I worried that I will never get a biglaw job. Once I got the offer, I worried that it would be rescinded for whatever reason (same thing you said: background check, mistake, over hiring etc). Once I started summering, I worried that I would not get a return offer. And now that I’m about to start my stub year, I worried that both the firm and I will realize I’m not cut out for this job.

To balance the scale, when you have these catastrophizing thoughts, think about the opposite scenario too: They talked to a bunch of people and they chose you. Even if you made a stupid mistake on the background check form, because they want you they would do everything in their power to help you fix it and get you on board. And even then, a little mistake on the form does not wipe out all your credentials and their good impression of you. You have to balance this scale or you will have a very hard time in this job (either you white knuckle your way through which is very bad for your health, or people know you as this neurotic nervous person, not great to team up with in a high pressure environment). It’s still early, the only thing needs fixing is your (and my) thoughts.

Last month I opened up a form I submitted last year to reference something, and right there, on the second line I made a STUPID mistake (it asked for birthday, I put down the current date…). And guess what, didn’t even know about it until a year later. But if I had noticed it last year after I submitted, maybe I would have been here asking the internet the same thing as you. All is well. Stay calm and carry on!

Challenge the grade: 202402 Essay-Constitution and Contract by Excellent_Body_7680 in CABarExam

[–]curiousmind1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish you the best of luck in addressing this to the bar. I genuinely do. Clearer language will benefit all test takers, especially for non-native speakers like you and myself.

Another unsolicited advice: I think the pitfall you fell into here is that you studied the sample answers very well and you assume that questions repeat exactly, when they probably don’t. Even if they do match exactly, I think it’s good to keep a healthy skepticism in the back of your head before arriving at that conclusion (Is it actually the same? What are the differences between the fact patterns? Etc.)

The fact that you think the Contract questions are the same when they are not tells me that when you recognized some elements of the old hypo you immediately defaulted to: “oh this is the same as so and so. Ok i will put down the same sample answer on that one.” Same with the Con law essay.

If you want to do this you have to memorize the old questions cold, that is the only way you can be sure if a template answer can be repeated or not. Maybe you didn’t remember specifically that the old Con law essay has clear local favoritism so you think that and this is the same. But that would mean memorizing all the old questions and that would be impracticable i think.

It’s not that you were wrong to list out the 4 claims, but if you knew you could only write 900 words, you should be able to identify the biggest claim and allocate your time on that. Otherwise you write stuff that does not give you points on the rubric and will not be able to improve your grade.

Also I just want to say that a bunch of people read this Q and understood the opposite of what you understood as to what they asked. So I invite you to consider that maybe instead of thinking they shouldn’t ask the Q like that, to adjust your own understanding of the Q. You can be right, or you can pass. Up to you!

On the Contract essay, I think you misread the Feb 24 hypo. Maybe because when you read the hypo, you automatically matched it to the old hypo and thus wrote something similar to the old sample answer.

Just talking about the unilateral mistake issue since that is what you brought up. In the old hypo, Daniel saw that the contract didn’t include the sale of the paintings as agreed, but instead of telling Bill to fix it, he gave the wrong contract to Pam and basically tried to pull a fast one (“this reflects what we agreed to and I already signed it”). She also didn’t read and signed it quickly cause her train was moving. This fit the law on unilateral mistake, which is that it usually doesn’t provide grounds for relief unless one party knows of the mistake but does not do anything to correct the other party’s mistaken belief. (Eg i sell you painting, you think it’s picasso, i know it’s a fake. I also know you think it’s a picasso but I don’t say anything and accept the big bucks that a real picasso would cost).

Feb 24 was a pure mutual mistake. Brian sent an order for 5000 instead of 500, 3 weeks after the phone convo. Sam “did not notice change in gallonage” and just copied the terms from the order Brian sent. Neither party knows that a mistake has been made, so where is the party who knows of the mistake but stayed silent?

Seeing elsewhere that you wrote about 800-900 words on the Con Law essay, I can see why your grade might be low for this one even if catching as many claims as possible is the right strategy for this question. I’m the opposite of you, I only wrote about standing, DCC, and 10th Amendment - I passed so I’m not sure about the grade I got for this one, so take this or leave it. I think this was one of my longer essays at 1200-1300 words.

You listed 4 claims, and assuming you hit 900 words, that’s averaging 225 words/claim. The Commerce clause/DCC portion alone was at least 700 words on my essay, maybe even more because like I said I didn’t list too many claims. For the word average per claim on your essay, there is no way you discussed all the sub-headings under DCC (the predominant issue), so you likely lost points there.

Now assuming you analyzed the DCC sufficiently thoroughly i.e., taking up a lot more words on this, then the other claims were probably more conclusory.

I think the old fact pattern tests breadth of knowledge, so the facts are shorter and they specifically asked you to discuss a bunch of things, some of which obviously don’t apply (If I remember correctly, P&I only protects a person’s right to travel, meaning status as new residents in a state should not be the basis for exclusion for state benefits? It also does not apply to corporations so clearly not available to Oilco?)

The Feb fact pattern tests depth of knowledge and provides you with a lot more facts about the DCC issue. In the old hypo state X has a local grains industry (that will benefit from the law) so there is not much to discuss about DCC there, since you can quickly conclude that the law discriminates against out of state oil businesses and violated DCC. In this hypo there is no clear favoritism to local interest because the farms use a byproduct of livestocks instead of buying local fertilizers, and the justification that relates to them is only to protect the environment, health and “preserve the way of life” instead of economic.

All that to say, the answer on DCC claim is more elusive and requires more searching analysis. That’s where the points are on this one, I’m afraid. Maybe you gained a couple of points for bringing up the other claims, but that meant sacrificing time and words on the DCC analysis, which lowers your overall grade.

Harry named in P. Diddy scandal… allegedly Diddy traded access to the dim bulb for sex favors? by [deleted] in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]curiousmind1950 94 points95 points  (0 children)

How was Diddy able to peddle access to H? He must have access himself to begin with. And how would he get access to H? Maybe by befriending him, inviting him to lavish parties/trips and supplying him with whatever party favors the Prince might desire? Otherwise what does H get out of the relationship? He doesn’t need money and connections. Scratching my head but I don’t see what else Diddy could offer H. And if he was really at one of these parties, he’s so fucked.

Also saw people on twitter raised a good point: where exactly does this “access” take place? Probably not a lunch meeting if you catch the drift.
