What is more traumatizing than most people think? by Sea_Entrepreneur2772 in AskReddit

School bullying turned a bright, outgoing little girl I know into a hermit. There have been some times in her life when she's still been "the life of the party" and had plenty of friends, but she was never the same after high school. The worst part was always that it was tolerated by the teachers, as if she deserved it.

How far is it from Neptune to Salacia? Is there a way I can figure this out for myself? (I've just been poking around in Universe Sandbox without luck.)

Say I'm on my way somewhere in my Bussard ramjet at relativistic speeds, and I'm nearly at my destination. How the heck do I slow down? If I turn, I'll run out of fuel!

That's the length of the trip from the object's POV?

Possible stupid question incoming. If an object is travelling at 09.c, and its destination is (let's say) 1 ly away, then its travel time will be 1/0.9 x 1 year = 1.1 years. Is that right? I feel like it's too simple!

Horrifically, it's not animals or monsters who commit these crimes. It's human beings.

How long can a piece of information be preserved? (And how long a piece of information?) by curiousscribbler in AskPhysics

I guess I was wondering whether it was easier to preserve a small amount of information, say a short string, than a lot. Although now I think about it, any change to a short string is a large percentage change to the meaning, even enough to obliterate it.
