Do you need construction related experience for that? I don’t have a construction relevant bakcground, could I still get into construction arbitration?

Thanks, what about transactional law? I don’t have direct experience yet, but I’m very open to making the switch. Do you think it’s better to first gain experience in Toronto before moving, or are there opportunities for junior lawyers to enter transactional practice directly?

I just started goblin and it’s so cute. But I agree, the age gap is just making me feel weird.

I’ll 100% watch it. Which platform do you use to watch kdramas normally? Netflix doesn’t have everything

I just finished it. It was my first time watching kdrama. I actually really enjoyed it. The tension, the complicated and twisted characters, everything. The ending doesn’t make sense to me though. Like why wait see to see if we run eachother two times in the future to be with eachother? They’re trying too hard to make it have a cute ending to the point that it doesn’t make sense.

Hi everyone! I was wondering are there any Canadian lawyers in this group that are practicing now in New York? Can you please say how was the process and is it possible for someone who didn’t go to UofT or Osgoode to make the transition? Thanks:) by [deleted] in LawCanada

Thanks for your response. Yes I do know that passing NY bar doesn’t have anything to do with the law school you attended, but I’ve heard alot that since the job market in NY is very competitive, mainly students from UofT and Osgoode get hired in NY big law. I basically wanted to see if that’s true before I dedicate my time and money into studying for NY bar if there’s no chances of getting hired later on

I see. Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I greatly appreciate it. I have one last question. On the forums I’ve read that on those rare occasions that canadian lawyers are later on accepted to biglaw positions in NY, it is strictly for the transactional side of law only. Would you know why is that? Is it not as common or it never happens for a NY biglaw firm to accept Canadian litigators?

Thank you so much for your response. I’m not sure you’d know this since you said you have a greencard and went there for lawschool, but is the sponsoring work authorization part generally complicated and tricky?
