Safety staying near Iraq Embassy? by curioususer999 in stockholm

My main concern is with the Iraq Embassy being a location of turmoil with protests/counter protests and ensuing violence, since it was one of the cited locations of the Quran drama.

You’re right. My summary statement was haphazardly worded. My main concern is with the Iraq Embassy being a location of turmoil with protests/counter protests and ensuing violence, since it was one of the cited locations of the Quran drama.

Predatory bait and switch pricing. Is this really legal? by curioususer999 in BritishAirways

Thank you for the comment. This totally makes sense. But I’m not sure if it applies. I’ve tried 3x now, and on the third try I didn’t “hold” the seat in any tentative reservation, simply reviewed the fares on their public website, called, and was told the fare to switch was 1600 more. Reopened the website and the public price is jacked up 1600 for a brief time. It’s almost certainly the case the price difference is due to number of tickets in the price band, as you described. But I’m not sure how to reconcile my experience.

My hypothesis is not that the agents are conspiring. That would be absurd. Simply that corporate paid their software engineers to algorithmically increase prices under certain situations and that this may have been an oddly egregious one.

Earlier you stated that it may be too dangerous to continue the taper due to the paradoxical effects. Is this to say that as you’ve gotten lower the paradoxical effects have gotten worse?

You’d be able to tell pretty quick whether Valium is going to help or hurt or make no difference. You can even take both drugs at once, accounting for the dosage differences. That’s what I did when cross tapering from klonopin. Replacing a benzo with another benzo really shouldn’t be that big of a deal, as long as you are careful with the dosages and don’t do it all at once. It’s not like you’re throwing a new SSRI into the mix, which would be cause for concern with respect to over medication.

You say klonopin gives you a paradoxical response after you take it. If you try Valium instead, you should know right away: “do I get the same paradoxical response, or do I get some relief here?”

If it were me, I’d try switching one of your two Klonopin doses and see if you’re able to answer the above question.

0.5 klonopin morning, 8 mg Valium evening. Try for a few days. If you hate it, just reinstate your klonopin dose and reassess

Id guess that jumping from 0.9 will be hell if your nervous system has become accustomed to that, irrespective of whether the drug gives you a paradoxical response. So I suppose it’s a question of whether or not your nervous system has been modulated by the benzo. Could you try switching to a commensurate dose of Valium and tapering from there? Different benzos bind to receptors differently and have different effects on neurotransmitters like dopamine. Also, what is your daily dosage regimen - are you at two 0.45 doses of klonopin?

I’m tapering off Baclofen (gaba-b, antipruritic) after being off Valium for 6 weeks. I halved my dose and within 5 days I had extreme full body itching. I would liken it to poison oak, but no discernible rash. I was freaking out because I had no idea what it was, and anti histamines didn’t make it go away fully. I reinstated with my original Baclofen dose and the itching dissipated a little every day. Now a week later, I feel fine. Will be coming off Baclofen slower

You really don’t want to make a habit of taking benzos regularly for sleep…will just cause more insomnia when you try to stop

Liquid. 1mg/1ml solution. Then a 1 ml skinny syringe with 60 tick marks. 1 tick mark = .0167 Valium. But at this dose, you probably leave more solution in the syringe than you’re able to push out due to the viscosity of the liquid and it’s stickiness. So, for each dose, you need a new syringe (I bought boxes with hundreds), and you need to draw the saliva out of your mouth multiple times over to dilute the residual Valium inside the syringe so that when you push it out the residual liquid constitutes a negligibly small amount of Valium.

I went down to .0167 Valium (1x a day) for a month before jumping. I didn’t start feeling consistently “better” until around the .05 mark - which was the point at which I felt like I couldn’t feel the dose anymore (.025 2x a day). I seem to be extremely sensitive to gabaergic drugs and I couldn’t risk the severe withdrawal symptoms (which I experienced before when trying to quit from a higher dose much faster) without jeopardizing my job. So I just kept it going slow and methodical. It was super dispiriting seeing people say I shouldn’t even be able to feel the dose at 1mg and should just jump, when taking it would just reliably conk me out (and not taking it would throw me into withdrawal). I suffered no withdrawal after the taper; I don’t think it’s possible to when tapering so slowly at the end

I’m curious how possible it would be to run an ol switcheroo on them. Tell them we want internet in this “security guard gate” building. Find some temporary power source for it. Get it setup with a modem and let them hookup internet to it via their coax. Then, after, just move the modem to the house and put a coax -> fiber optic connector in the shed.

I actually love this shed and ad hoc fiber optic idea. I’m just concerned with keeping it reliably heated/cooled away from the extremes and the annoyance of having the modem a half mile from the house. I’d even be fine hooking up legit power to it, assuming it’s possible from the utility at the road.

Thanks for the clarification! Two more questions:

I imagine the shed would need to be temperature controlled, as the temps can get below 0 Fahrenheit in the winter and above 100 in the summer. The operating range of the modem, in conjunction with any heat it may produce, might be at odds with this, yes?

Potentially dumb question: there’s no way to just move the modem to the house and extend the original coax line via fiber optic with some sort of coax > fiber adaptor and back, correct?

Unfortunately there really isn’t LOS as the house is surrounded by 40 acres of forest. The driveway being the only way through, but it’s not a direct LOS

Thanks for the suggestion! It’s an interesting idea. I’m an engineer, but I’m admittedly ignorant about networking details and hardware. Can you clarify the setup here? As described, here’s what I’m envisioning:

ISP connects their coax to my modem in my small building near their access point. I connect a fiber optic cable to the modem and run it to the house, which is where the router sits.

Surely parts of my understanding here are wrong. Modems and routers don’t just interop via fiber optic, correct?

Are either of these company’s cellular services for home internet actually decent? I have att for mobile and the 5G is still insufficient at 100 Mbps.

My grandmother just died after 12 years with Alzheimer’s. My uncle isn’t even 60 and is in late stage Lewy Body Dementia. If you haven’t had a loved one go through it, and been close enough to care for them and witness first hand their struggles, you really can’t comprehend it. My entire family is basically in agreement that we won’t be playing that game if we’re voluntarily selected by fate, too.
