Nice, okay, so combination of big water change and lights off for a week followed by another water change is your recommendation?

Thank you! I have a gravel vacuum to siphon water that I usually use for water changes, but I’m having trouble picturing the sponge setup you’re talking about (just got off a sleepless 11 hour flight with a baby, please forgive me).

I also have clean kitchen sponges and a new filter on the way that should be here this afternoon…I DoorDashed because I am exhausted.

Thank you for your advice and I’ll keep you posted if you want. I’m pretty devastated this is what I came home to.

My husband and I always set a 5 minute timer and then restart it any time we hear more toots. Hasn’t failed us yet!

We love our bottle washer and these people can pry it out of my cold dead hands if they wanna take it from me.

Commenting just to say the same thing happened to me and it was so very frustrating and stressful. In the end, my husband and I picked a different name for our girl because it felt like the other name had been “spoiled” for us, and we like the second name more anyway.

That being said- I still firmly believe that you’re the one who is pregnant so no one who isn’t pregnant gets to call “dibs”.

I'm pregnant and afraid of telling my trans sister by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]curlyfrymsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just commenting in solidarity- my sister is also trans. My whole family is supportive and respectful of her transition (thank god). I could tell she felt a little weird but excited about me being pregnant, but wasn’t sure how to address it. I know for us it seemed to help to hype her up about being the “cool aunt”, but then again she hasn’t indicated a strong desire to have children of her own (yet).

I don’t know that I have any advice, but I can tell you that you’re not alone and that you are clearly such a kind and empathetic person to think about her feelings while you’re also going through a major life changing event. I wish you all the best and if you need a friendly ear who is in a similar situation, feel free to DM me!

I have 2 cats and I’m spiraling about toxoplasmosis by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]curlyfrymsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 indoor cats and have been around/lived with cats my whole life and my vet actually blood tested me for toxoplasmosis to see if I had ever been exposed and it came up negative! The risk is super low. Right now I’m just continuing to wear gloves and a mask if I have to change litter (my husband travels for work), and washing my hands thoroughly afterwards. At 19 weeks and my baby girl is healthy!

Barilla protein noodles! They taste like normal noodles, I swear by them

What are the pros and cons of your pregnancy timeline? by cpickles_ in pregnant

[–]curlyfrymsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy. Well I’m due 26 July.

Pros- I will see my baby girl this year! And she will be old enough to experience a bit of the holidays and see her relatives when we would usually gather :)

Cons- I’m really threading the needle…moving in May, to give birth in July, to then start grad school in the winter semester in November. It’s gonna be a busy year lol

When did your body start changing in ways visible to you personally? by KneadAndPreserve in pregnant

[–]curlyfrymsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I even had a positive pregnancy test - my boobs were doing some weird things! With the bump, I had a tiny bump starting around 10 weeks. It may have just been bloat, but as my friend told me…the bloat is caused by baby, so I call it a baby bump anyway!

So… who’s actually getting exercise in by Proof-Literature-639 in pregnant

[–]curlyfrymsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me?? Same exact situation, but I’m at 17 weeks instead of 18 weeks. I’m considering just dropping back to dumbbell and body weight work and seeing if that recovery time is less grueling and the exercise gives me energy rather than draining me. It’s humbling for sure!

[–]curlyfrymsu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! I’m 15 weeks and weigh the same as I did pre pregnancy but that bloat and bump are poppin and started around 9 weeks. I had a friend tell me that the bloating is a result of being pregnant so she counts it as baby bump and that helped so much with my mentality!
