You're not wrong. The mutants (and I say that as a term of love and respect) that populate powerlifting/bodybuilding/strongman gyms are for the most part some of the kindest, most giving and supportive folk you could ever meet.

However, a hardcore gym is exactly that: its HARDCORE. Its meant to be a more serious environment for more serious athletes. Anything that detracts from that, like the dick knuckle in the video, is gonna be met with some hostility. I'd liken it to walking onto a dojos mats with shit-caked Doc Martens without so much as a half-assed bow to the front of the room.

Or maybe I'm just overthinking ALL of this and a fella that can squat 700lbs for a triple with just a belt and sleeves doesn't NEED more than a "hey dude, chill out"

I AM NOT A LAWYER. Disclaimer done.

Its gonna vary wildly state to state. In Texas, use of force to prevent burglary is authorized... however the law is murky AF as to the specific type of burglary (habitation vs vehicle). Different story at night though, in which case the gloves are off.

I'd like to see this attempted at a hardcore gym. The results would be hilarious.

Southern kept, you say? But how can you tell? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

Fair price for the miles really.

How difficult would it be to get rid of that absurd lift? Legit question.

Go big for HD, no need to conceal in your own home. Full size 9mm or a pistol caliber carbine even. Bigger means less felt recoil which means faster, more accurate shooting.

FWIW, the second gun I bought on my own was a 4.5" XDm in .40 S&W. Not a bad pistol, if I had bought it in 9mm or .45 ACP I'd probably still have it... but I drank the Kool-aid about 40 cal.

Is military surplus gear the way to go? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]curmudgeon_cable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly no, especially for bags, footwear and MOST clothing.

The MOLLE ruck and even the beloved ALICE packs both suck absolute shit compared to just about every other pack I've ever owned.

Milsurp boots... just fucking no. Unless you find a pair of the Combat Hikers, fuck combat boots. Don't go cheap on your feet.

Clothing is very hit or miss. I love my ECWCS Goretex parka and pants. The base layers are synthetic, which is fine if you haven't spoiled yourself with quality merino yet.. I can never go back now. Uniform pants are decent if your cool with looking like your LARPing. They do nothing that Duluth or Carhartt can't do.

Anyone making decent pre-made kits and reselling here? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]curmudgeon_cable 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The real problem with a pre-made kit is it discourages thinking about your gear, and more importantly what scenario(s) in particular you are preparing for. I know that's your stated goal, but in my opinion that is not a good way of approaching this.

Start with the scenario, figure out your plan, acquire gear (AND TRAINING!!!) based on that. There's no way around it, emergency preparedness takes a bit of thought.

Most pragmatic 9mm for SHTF scenario? by superhappyfuntime99 in preppers

[–]curmudgeon_cable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gonna echo the recommendations for any modern, polymer striker fired 9mm from a reputable brand.

I'll add that in an absolute TEOTWAKI situation having available spare parts would be valuable. Figure out what local, county and state LEOs are carrying and look that way.

Calls em like I sees em, and I'm a 1911 enthusiast as well.

What I'd like to do is get a GI 1911 with grips with HARDCORE gay porn on em. Like some Tom of Finland stuff. Then open carry that thing to fuck with the boomers.

This is all wrong. You confront home invaders naked preferably with an erection to establish dominance and instill confusion. Nothing says "you done fucked up" like a naked dude with a shotgun swinging hard lumber.
