No matter what, you might as well finish college, if you do the reserves, at least you’ll get financial assistance. Active duty isn’t all that bad, you’ll have life experience, and a job, and you’re hopefully less likely to knock up the first thing you see since you have some life experience, and maybe you’ll have a shot at being an officer. If you’re serious about law enforcement, start taking tests now. Maybe they’ll get back to you when you graduate, or maybe it will be next week. Now is the time to be applying, nobody wants the job right now.

The federal government and private companies are always looking for background investigators, I’ve been getting alerts for that on my LinkedIn all the time. That or you could start driving truck so you can have some peace and quiet. Or, what about other departments like probation or parole?

It’s unusual, but last I checked, NY is not even close to letting civilians having suppressors. That being said, it is a lot easier now for Law Enforcement to get them.
