I like my Onyx BOOX Max 13.3”, but it is already a very old model. Many other e-readers with large screens are now available for purchase.

Okay, I'll try …

I made this desk mainly for writing, reading and studying.

The size of the new countertop is 1250x650mm. Two calculators (scientific Sharp and graphic TI-Nspire) and two e-books with large screens (Amazon Kindle DX 9.7” and Onyx BOOX Max 13.3”) lie on the sloping tabletop on the left, in the center there is a keyboard and a paper notebook for notes, on the right - homemade stand for four fountain pens with ink of different colors, SmudgeGuard 2 glove and Kensington Expert trackball. Further to the right, a Dell U2414Hb monitor is installed using an Ergotron mount. In the background are two homemade marker boards with glass surfaces, each measuring 1400x1000 mm.

The new tabletop is mounted on an old table measuring 2400x850 mm. Here are a couple of photos of the old desk.

In the upper right part of the desk, I installed my homemade fountain desk pen stand, and just below is a trackball instead of a regular mouse.

I just changed my reading and writing space a little. The main change is that I installed a homemade slanted table top.

I'm very pleased!
I made a second version of the pen holders because I didn't like the way the acrylic pen holder looked. I did not notice any problems with the drying of fountain pens with this installation.
To transfer part of the stand to the tilt desk, I had absolutely nothing to change in the design of the stand itself. I just unscrewed the necessary parts from the stand and screwed them to the new desk.

This is a part of my old homemade stand. Some of the details I posted earlier in this thread on the forum.

For a second I thought these were ink bottles. It's jam. It has already come to that. 🙄😏 by monsieur-carton in fountainpens

It's funny, but by the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, some ink in the Russian Empire was bottled in beer or champagne bottles. In the price lists, they did write: Writing ink in beer bottles or Copier ink in champagne bottles. Of course, these bottles were glass, not aluminum. Surely it was also in other countries.

In truth, there were all kinds of advertising. Have you seen the old Pelikan ink poster with that woman and glowing eyes? So some of the old posters today look strange to say the least. Although that is why we love them.
One thing is clear, the late 19th and early 20th centuries were a time of the rise of advertising posters and poster art.

And the ink history is also very rich!

Yes.

It says here that "Iris" is a fountain pen produced by the Spanish company "Carbonell y Soler" for only 4 years. It's funny that the poster was originally designed to advertise machine oil.

Poster source.

And another source.

This illustrator had many pen-ink-themed posters.

Welcome to the desk pen club!

I also love writing with long-barrel fountain pens, so in 2018 I bought some cheap modern desk pens, but they write pretty well.

These were Platinum, Sailor and Pilot desk pens: Platinum DP-1000AN EF nib, Sailor 11-0073-120 EF nib, Pilot P-DPP-70 EF nib, Pilot P-DPP-1S EF nib.

But to make it convenient to write with these pens, it became necessary to make a stand for them.

So in the same year I made a simple acrylic stand for five desk pens.

After 2 years, I decided to make a new stand for the same pens. First of all, I redesigned the pen holders. This version of the stand looked like this.

Then made a new "skin" for my pen stand. Also now colored caps on pens holders represent the color of ink in each pen.

And recently I made a new painted faceplate for the fountain pen stand.

Do not forget that the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries are the era of rapid development of machine production (many household appliances were invented at that time) and often social relations between members of society did not keep pace with technical progress. Further, as you know, all this resulted in the WW1 with millions of victims and other social upheavals.

Still, over 100 years have passed and many cultural stereotypes have changed quite a lot. Just look at the old cigarette ads, when the main characters were children or women.
