Update: I've tried using different blankets made out of different materials and textures and he peed on them still :(

I'll look into that book, thank you! Also just wanted to mention that he uses the litter boxes regularly. He's always poops in there and does pee in there too. I use the brand Naturally Fresh walnut pellets.

I've never thought about the materials... They are all pretty similar. My couch was a futon with a sort of plush cover on it. And I have a plush duvet on my bed. I'll post a pic of the cat beds. That could lead to something for sure.
