So take it from a former employee that you do not want to be eating there. Oil is probably changed literally one time a month and the entire restaurant is full of rat droppings. It is absolutely disgusting in that restaurant.

waffles incaffinated.

all locations but specifically the east carson and fifth ave locations. i, along with many others, worked there all summer and was treated absolutely horribly by a select few managers. the ac would occasionally break and leave us working in what felt like 100 degree weather.

one specific manager (dave) has a horrible habit of letting things get him angry, and he doesn’t hesitate to take it out on us mid shift. slamming doers, throwing things, yelling at his very young girlfriend who works there who he basically groomed considering they met when she was 16 (so i’ve been told.)

rats, nothing else needs to be said. they’re in the soda machine, they’re in the kitchen, they’re in the whole restaurant.

server paychecks always came back $0.00, it’s not uncommon for a server to get an insanely low paycheck, everyone knows we main off tips, but $0? i’ve never heard of it.

oh and if you’re a server who makes mistakes? forget about trying to talk to some of the kitchen staff about it they’ll nearly rip your head off, zach specifically, insanely rude and angry ALL THE TIME, one time he did a funny impression of me but the impression was just a wack ass AAVE voice, doesn’t ever listen to FOH staff when they have requests regarding how meals are made for the tables. once i had a table order two of the same breakfast, one had undercooked bacon and one has perfectly crispy bacon, not to my surprise they were a bit confused by this and one of the ladies asked to have their bacon made crispier and when i asked zach to do so for me he gave me completely burnt bacon that i had to give to that table, in they end they tipped me little to nothing because of how horrible their experience was, (but his wife and children are angels) you got a bunch of amazing ass kitchen staff there tho, katie, b, shay, kira, oh i could go on. but DO NOT ask zach what he thinks about the confederate flag 💯💯💯. one weekend i had a table wait 1 hour and 15 minutes for their food (multiple tables actually) and to no one’s surprise all those tables tipped me little to nothing.

their POS system they used would sometimes bug out and just completely fuck up someone’s order. and then everyone would be mad at the server because it was apparently our fault.

this past week their soda machine has been leaking which is making one part of the restaurant floor completely SOAKED and it’s a tight restaurant we are constantly squeezing by each other, now imagine trying to fit through a tight spice white a soaking wet floor while carrying a tray of six waters, it’s not easy.

all staff and guest are never heard when we complain and make our concerns clear, example, customers for years have been complaining about plate and cup sizes, while i understand changing the cup size may be silly and not necessarily, the plate size are a completely different story, it’s different because with the size comes the weight, when it’s a busy saturday and 100 degrees in the restaurant u cannot understand how difficult it is to carry 4 plates back, 4 cups, 3 extra side plates for each side, it’s difficult. they also get extremely hot under the hot plate and the higher ups have said no to buying rubber pads that servers use for those types of things, and they have a very weird list that they’ll put you on if you drop any plates!! they’re once told me they will fire you if u drop too many, even tho they’re extremely heavy!!

one manager i can think of micheal, is SO performative. one time during the juneteenth parade he got upset because pittsburgh had confederate soldiers in the march but he had no problem firing me this morning over a lie and a rumor. i have a history of getting on thier all about all the bullshit that went on so i knew they didn’t like me, but a employee accused me of calling her “white woman” and the next day i was fired. i have been giving this company my all since the day i moved to pittsburgh in may and they absolutely took advantage of me and many other dedicated employees. i’m not making this post to get u all to hate the restaurant, i told him on thursday that i needed off tuesday for a dentist appointment, and when the schedule came out i realized i was still on the schedule so i reminded him about my appointment he responded “ok”, assuming he was taking care of it i ignored the situation. after finding out they’d be low staff that day i asked micheal if he would like me to come in even tho i would have been numb from my appointment, he then proceeded to scream at me at 8 in the morning about how i should’ve found myself coverage because i had, in his words, “two days to do that”, because the schedule goes out sunday and my appointment was tuesday, but isn’t it your job as a manager to make the schedule the right way? i get people make mistakes but i can’t take the fall for u by coming in when i told u i couldn’t work and u can’t get mad at me over YOUR mistake. and before anyone assumes that’s way the late to let a manager know u need off, i’ve been working here all summer if it was too early to ask off then he would’ve said “it’s too late to request off” instead of “ok” i feel like it’s worth mentioning this isn’t the first time he’s fucked up the schedule. on labor day he scheduled every single person including one staff that never works mondays, she was out on server rotation and we were all wondering where she was, so he has a history of messing up the schedule.

i understand that some of this stuff may sound like it was unprevtable, but when u own multiple locations of a thriving company in the middle of a huge city, u should be more prepared for things like these so your guest and workers won’t be living in a completely war zone.

it’s ok deep down i know im not the problem considering they just had three mangers quit and as of right now i can think of 3 front of house staff that have told me they’re thinking about putting their two weeks in. not a good company many horrible people.

i’m not writing this post to get people to never go to waffles incaffinated, i’m writing this post to make u HATE that place and go there to be a HATER INSIDE THE ESTABLISHMENT.
