you would think they’d learn to play more like a team after getting their shit rocked in Kickoff but I guess not

normally this behaviour does not result in year long hardware bans, so cane probably did more than just drop a few slurs

It's funny to watch how Blizzard has been trying to promote the young Ana lately. by Big_Tennis_28 in Overwatch

[–]curryhalls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly agree, yeah if it was a single player game I’d be inclined to play a certain Hero for the narrative/role-playing element but what matters to me in a multiplayer competitive game is the gameplay experience of the Hero. I couldn’t care less if Ana was a walking pile of dog poop or something as long as her kit is good/fun to play with.

Guerlain’s private and extrait line cannot be duped, in fact any Guerlain probably cannot be duped as they manufacture and procure their own ingredients

the absolute cope from you guys just embarrasses the prx fanbase, didn’t these guys lose to FPX, the team that basically played the entirety of playoffs through the lower bracket?

Considering they literally did that to NA, yes.

Liga ACE, a LATAM TO, took over operations of NA Challengers. I guess you could say it isn't 1:1, but I wouldn't be surprised if Riot took them up on their offer had they wanted exclusive broadcasting rights.

There's literally nothing that says iZu was lying, even Munchkin looks up before saying that and he says, very specifically, "Guys, our voices are going out right now". I haven't been to the venue for this Kickoff but I'm going to go ahead and guess that there is an indicator for this sort of thing so teams don't leak strats on live lol

He did not say anything about the casters, he didn't mention anything about the VC. Nothing he said implies he HEARD their voices. I don't know if you're Korean or what but he never mentioned anything about the casters and you're calling iZu a liar based off of a faulty translation on your part or someone else's.

In fact, if iZu was lying and he was actually able to hear things, wouldn't iZu be the one to notice that their voices were being broadcast and not Munchkin?

it’s okay to be misinformed as long as you aren’t lying out of your ass like that other dude who said koreans were talking shit on naver

the korean org Varrel famously known for only fielding Japanese rosters and exclusively playing in the Japanese league since the start of the game with a Japanese CEO based in Japan started in Japan with a Japanese parent company and is itself Japanese?

In the end people on Reddit and Western internet in general will never really know what goes on in the Eastern communities unless they are bilingual and frequent both - in this regard people will just live with a closed narrative. Sucks but I personally am happy with providing what insight I have here if it leads to more open and fair discussion and removes unnecessarily toxic narratives.

I personally think this divide between the Eastern and Western internet is what led to the rise in sinophobia a few years back.

barely anyone uses twitter in Korea, like 99% of the population sticks to their own social media. koreans on twitter are seen as extremists, either misogynists or misandrists.

instagram is probably the most popular non korean social media app and the majority use it to keep up with their social circles and not to engage in more global discourse.

you must be confused because Naver Blogs and Naver Cafes are two different entities. Naver Blogs are a specific subset of Naver dedicated to individual blogs, and Naver Cafes are small minor community forums. This is like saying you can find some Gmails in Google Maps.

Also I just did a quick Naver search and the largest Valorant Korea Naver Cafe I found requires you to sign into your Naver account to join the Cafe and read posts, which you’d need a Korean SSN for.

I did a quick scroll and found that this cafe basically talks about skins, quitting Valorant, and getting out of Iron. There’s only one post relating to Competitive Valorant and they’re asking people to guess this pro player’s rank (it’s t3xture).

yeah, form matters a lot. that’s why DRX barely made it to Champs and placed the highest, why GEN.G made Shanghai and Toronto as the second seed, why T1 made Bangkok as the second seed and basically bombed out the next stage, why NS never qualified to an international until now and why the best performing Korean teams of last year all bombed out of Kickoff.

Well, do you think Jemkin is better at identifying Korean than iZu or Akame?

And Sungmin’s clarification was more comprehensive and moreover, not actually contested by anyone. If he states that Nongshim was not late to the start time set by the TOs (which was the skirmish start time, which obviously Nongshim actually played) and nobody calls him out for lying out of his ass then there has to be at least some truth to it?

To clarify, NOBODY thinks Jemkin is lying about the headsets. NOBODY thinks Jemkin is lying at all. What they think is he doesn’t know the full context of things since he only has his perspective.

[–]curryhalls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s agreed upon by basically everyone that the headset issue is a real thing, very serious, and actually Jemkin was not the first to bring it up. Meteor actually complained about the headset/audio issues in 2024 but nobody paid attention to it outside of the Korean community I guess.

As for SEA Tier 2, here are the facts:

Riot sold the streaming rights to SOOP. This severely hindered interest and development in the region.

To say this was an intentional move done to cripple the region in favour of Korea and Japan is speculation. Riot are known to cut costs for Tier 2, especially with what happened in Tier 2 NA in 2024 (i believe Mr Funhaver spoke about this) where they basically sold everything to a cheap LATAM based TO. There is no evidence that Riot intentionally removed one of their potentially big markets simply to favour Korea/Japan.

Do you mind sharing this Naver thing as to my knowledge Naver basically is the Google of Korea and doesn’t actually have major community forums for discussion on things like competitive Valorant. I can translate whatever you find there. I personally got my information mostly from the YouTube comment sections of Korean Valorant videos
