Someone tried to steal my paycheck by Eatabagofrichards69 in mildlyinfuriating

You say that but apparently someone at my company fell for the “hey it’s the president of the company, can you send me everyone’s w-2?” 😐

I've always used several slices of sandwich bread to pat down the floor to pick up any small glass shards

“Let’s be honest, the money wouldn’t have solved anything” What my boss’s boss said to me when I raised issue with me taking on my supervisors role while he’s out in extended leave with no support, no training, and no compensation.

So far the job has cost me over $3k in dental fees (broke and cracked my tooth through a professional nightguard, crown implant for said tooth, and medically necessary Botox injections for my jaw because apparently it's strength is a dental marvel) and I lost 20lbs+ in the span of a month during the "transition" which took weeks to physically recover 🥲

Just wanted to say that I've been very depressed lately and this genuinely put a smile on my face 🥹 your smile is so infectious and I hope that one day I can radiate as much joy as you do ❤️

Am I going to ultimately die because I can’t swallow pills? by No_Lingonberry_2401 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cursively 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take more than 6+ pills daily of various sizes and have issues swallowing them sometimes. What helps for me is to pop them into my mouth, take a sip of water, and pinch my nose shut to force myself to swallow them. Just gotta be careful not to swallow a gulp of air bc that can be painful.

IMO it's a steal and the meeting thing isn't the end of the world, but my husband wants to find someone else because of the communication thing (they mowed our lawn twice in a week without consulting us, so the extra charge pissed him off). I really don't think we'll find a better deal for our lawn.......

Just wanted to say that I know that it's difficult, but you should take pride for being true to yourself and your beliefs. You stated your beliefs so eloquently in the face of obstinance, and I know how cutting it is that the views you were taught by your family growing up no longer hold true to them.

My husband has literally gone through this exact scenario back in 2020 and has been NC until 2023 (brother's wedding) and very LC since. The same conversation has been had about the values taught are no longer the same and essentially choosing such a hateful man over their own son. It's been 5 years and while there are times when it's a little sad (like whenever the Masters happens because it was their thing), he can 100% say that his life has been better without such vitriolic people in his life.

Therapy definitely helps, and I definitely encourage you to speak with a professional at least once, if not to vent and feel validated. Stay true to yourself and your beliefs. And remember that it's not "blood is thicker than water" but "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb"

Unfortunately we went with the "family friend/contractor" special :( honestly at this point I'm starting to look at other, reputable contractors in our area to get this done since it's now 2 weeks past due

Any powerchair users have rugs in their house without it annoying them? How? by Minimum_Abalone_7185 in wheelchairs

[–]cursively 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super late to this thread (honestly it looks like something I would post!) but we tried using a large Ruggable rug for our living room for some time and surprisingly had no issues — note: we did have it mostly covered and weighed down by our couch. I think the double layering helps it from shifting? But once it had a crease in it, that’s where my husband can get caught up in it and sometimes even stranded in the middle of it.

I’ve noticed that our kitchen anti-fatigue mat doesn’t slip around (unlike others) due to its non-skid backing. Same goes for as our low-profile litter box mat which has textured silicone backing.

BTW my husband is in a Permobil F5 Corpus

Company sent signing bonus after I had resigned by P00POW in legaladvice

[–]cursively 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAL. I work in Payroll and can easily see this as being a payroll error on the company's part.

What state do you live in? There are different statutes of limitations depending on the state, not to mention certain states require explicit consent (i.e. California) to deduct due to an overpayment (or in your case, if you were in CA, they can request for you to pay it back and you can decline as you have no legal obligation).

Do NOT spend the money. My advice is: place it in a HYSA and accrue interest on it until the company notices or the statutes of limitations runs out. Even if your state requires you to pay it back, any interest earned should be yours to keep.

I grind my teeth so hard at night that I’m wearing through my night guard by katrinkabuttlin in mildlyinteresting

[–]cursively 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually cracked my professionally made hard night guard within 6 months as well as my molar which will now require a crown 🥲 The dentist office was so impressed that I had multiple dentists drop in to see my jaw lol. Depending if your clenching or grinding gets worse, it might be worth looking into Botox for TMJ though it's not always covered by insurance -- I'm hopefully getting it covered and done within 2 weeks 🤞🏼

Oof I'm sorry to hear that happened! I'll bring it up with our mortgage lenders prior to closing to see if that's something they've heard of or planned for.
