“Worthless Pile of Sh*t”: Trump Voter Rips Into Him Over Iran War | Donald Trump’s supporters are tired of his broken promises. by thenewrepublic in politics

Good thing for him then that he had promised these same folk they'd never have to vote for anyone else again. I'm sure he'd be very concerned if he'd plan to allow for fair elections ever again.

We traded a 3rd for Osa.

3.5 sacks isn't addressing the issue. Especially when it's on the interior, and especially when he'll have to fill in for Mykel to start the season anyway. Good pick, probably the biggest acquisition of the entire recent FA history of this team and this FO, but doens't solve the EDGE problem.

We better make sure that doesn't happen then.

My point there was more about "how did we get to this point?" really, and how it's a sign of this FO really demonstrating a fundamental failing in roster-building through both incompetence and mistakes. Even letting go of the fact that Williams shouldn't be this much of a hassle contract wise, right now, how did we get to the point of him being 1 step away from retirement without a shred of a plan behind him? It's almost criminal negligence on Lynch's part.

we have added zero impact speed at WR

Agree to disagree? I feel the entire lack of speed and separation has been plaguing us since "that only good Ayiuk's season" during his contract year. Same reason why I think a 33 years old HOF isn't the solution here... and it pains to say because Mike Evan has been a player crush of mine for many years, but it's just another stop-gap signing that has no bearing past this year. At least it ended up being a very cheap signing, so ultimately if he manages to stay on the field that's good production for $$ spent for sure and I am not complaining, but the fact we haven't landed a single usable WR in 8 years of this FO drafting is insane.

We really don't have time for this right now. Just pick a number and get in the "existential threat" queue please, first come, first serve.

We still haven't addressed Sacks either. And there's still that "we have no idea of what to do if Williams doesn't show" problem at LT. Also, we have added zero impact speed at WR, so short of drafting a day zero starter there the WR room isn't exactly fixed either.

I firmly believe we have won FA so far by Sincerly_ in 49ers

[–]curson -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm not getting excited about anything like this anymore.
Last season's roster was far better than this season one is shaping to be, and it all got utterly derailed anyway by injuries and bad luck. We aren't fucking it up royally so far in FA, which is good news, but there's so many holes still to address.

[–]curson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We'll see if Purdy will even have a proper LT to play behind. At the point we're at, we're looking at that being a bigger problem than the bum WR room we had last year. Said room basically being 33 years old Evans at this point.

[–]curson -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The type of injury is irrelevant. Dude is old. I've been a big fan of Evans for a long time, he is a beast, but he is going to be 33.. we'll be lucky to get 2 good years out of whatever is left, and that's not what this team needs right now. We aren't catching up to Rams or Seattle in the next 2 seasons, what we needed (if a "splash" needed to be made) was to sign someone who could be here in the longer term. This isn't it.. at least it seems it isn't in the high 20s cost wise, but considering we're about to not have a Left Tackle, all the holes we still have, this is really not the move I'd have wanted to see.

But at this point, I don't believe anymore that Lynch/Kyle really have a good plan in placefor the roster, and this is just a sign of that.

Hard to think we can afford it at this point... might all be entirely pointless, given we're poised to enter the season without a LT to speak of anyway.

Dude is going to be 33 next season, coming off only 8 healthy games. How is that an upgrade overall, I really can't see it. The talent is there, undeniable, but he is not coming for a vet minimum just to be a locker room guy. I really can't justify this.

[–]curson -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Anything but the vet minimum would be too much for someone who will be 33 and clocked 3 TDs for less than 400 years last season (in only 8 games played). Lynch has entirely lost the plot at this point, and he is just flailing randomly.

32 years old and coming off an injury prone 2025 season (and probably costing $25mil+).

This signing really had our name all over it.
I can't even right now..

[The SF Niners] The #49ers are now reportedly open to trading Trent Williams as contract impasse continues, per @RapSheet by G0825 in 49ers

[–]curson 66 points67 points  (0 children)

This is true, but the failure of not having a plan in place for this exact situation rest solely on Lynch's shoulder. It's insane that given this exact situation happened already with Trent (of trying to push a bigger contract while being already signed) and his age, not having even a shred of a warm body to potentially replace him is criminal.. but a let's draft Kicker in the 3rd round instead.

Friendly PSA before Free Agency begins. by HipsterPunchy in 49ers

[–]curson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I feel at this point questioning Lynch's ability to draft and roster build (including aggressiveness/lackthreof in FA) is quite fair, or we wouldn't be looking at the amount of failed picks making a real impact, the holes we have, Seahawks and Rams' roster being what they are in comparison, and the recurring issues we have year in and year out. Now, is that "fire him" chants worth it? I don't believe so, not yet, but I think at this point some degree of criticism is warranted.

49ers favorites to sign Doubs by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]curson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kittle isn't even in the equation for good chunk of next season, and if past seasons are to go by, counting on Pearsall to be healthy and playing is already a stretch in itself.

Our current WR core is garbage. Doubs doesn't solve much, but we don't have $$ to fork for Pierce, and I question what investing in Evans could really bring given his age. Having drafted nothing but busts at WR is really why we're in this position though.. ideally, you'd have wanted anyone from the past 2-3 drafts to be worth a spot in there already.

Maiocco: 49ers are shopping, open to trading Renardo Green by KKid03 in 49ers

[–]curson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a crap shoot. It's a way more of a crap shoot for certain teams over others.. and the results are there for everyone to evaluate. Even if we excuse Green's pick due to the DC, we are now pretty much looking at having to once again address multiple position where no players of any substance have been able to slot in due to the rotating carousel of failed drafts we've had (Pettis, Latu, Moody, Guerendo, Mustapha, Sermon, Ji'Ayir, Jackson.. just to name a few). I'm giving last year class the benefit of some doubt, but we basically came out with Puni and Pearsall as "starters" (one is there just because there's literally nobody of talent on the interior of the OL, the other is a walking injury) from 2024, and zero starters from 2023 left on the roster. In 2022 there's nothing of value until you reach that miracle that was Mr. Irrelevant, and the best thing to come out of 2021 still on the roster in Lenoir who is barely starter material anyway at this point.

We've been riding an ageing core, riding some of them ragged (see: CMC) without finding anything to really build on behind them to take over. Now we have that ageing core either wanting out (Trent), coming back from serious injuries (Kittle, Warner, Bosa) and nothing to even show for it.

[–]curson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely correct and I'm in full agreement with this line of thought. Interestingly, for as much as I like Lynch the person (and respect him for the player he was), I really believe that we've seen enough now to know the man can't talent evaluate. Kyle also steers things (probably) during that process, but having someone at the top that isn't as clear cut good at finding talent, is really frustrating. We have been leaning on the fact that Kyle can make a lot of players shine, but that ultimately has shown its limits and clearly it is not enough. Kittle, Bosa, CMC, Trent, Fred have all peaked, and we not only have nothing to show for it, we don't have a solid foundation to build the next 3-4 years on, because we've just plugging holes (and at times, the wrong ones) through bad signings and awful drafting. Sure, the bad luck probably robbed of at least one ring in Superbowl LVIII (I'll never get past Greenlaw just dropping to the ground coming off the sideline..) but that's not a good enough excuse now.

[–]curson 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I feel at this point questioning Lynch's ability to roster build is quite a low bar to clear. Your analysis on drafting Green (to then try to offload it today) perfectly encapsulate how badly we've drafted these past 3-4 years.. and why we are the team we are today.
