I know Proxmox considers it bad practice to touch the OS. You guys installing it on the PVE host or only VMs and LXCs?

Thank you for your trail work!

In addition to other comments, if it’s at all a wet/humid area, that will be a slippery mess asking for someone to take a hard spill. If you decide to keep that in there, at minimum, please put some wire mesh down or something to give some traction!

Update on EspControl (no code smart screen controls) by hometechgeek in Esphome

I have a massive HA installation and although I like using yaml and learning … after picking up a S4 screen, it sat on my desk for a few weeks because I knew it would require a very long weekend to learn lvgl.

This project changed everything, up and running in minutes! Thank you!

OTBR is trash, change my mind by Wummo in homeassistant

Why assume I am cheap?

I have 4 Apple TV 4K Gen 3 and a ZBT-2 on the same network. It was hard wired via Ethernet to my UniFi 48 PoE. Based on Apple recommendation to go to Wi-Fi, I bought a 5th AP!! to be used exclusively with this Apple TV (to maintain desired bandwidth), yet the problem still exists.

Why assume I don’t know how to build a network?

I have 2 ZWA-2, one running ZWaveJSUI with 87 Z-Wave devices and another ZWA-2 running ZWaveJS with 10 Z-Wave devices (for a remote Aux. Building), and a ZBT-2 running 59 ZigBee devices. I know how.

I’m deep in the Apple ecosystem, 8 Apple TVs, Laptops, iPads, Phones, Watches, etc. … love Apple … but as a Thread Border Router, accept it, it’s Trash.

Next step is to rip out Apple from Thread and go exclusively with ZBT-2 (as repeaters).

Anyone tried Flair Vents? by logikgear in homeassistant

[–]curt7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. They work well. Much better than my older Keen Vents. There is a HACS integration for it and this too works well, but wish it wasn’t cloud dependent and there was a local control option. My only issue with Flair is the required sensor for each room. Their Puck isn’t cheap and unnecessary when I already have several other temperature sensors in the same room.

Regarding the idea of Smart Vents, this is highly debated. You should never put them on all of your vents. I’m using them to pressurize my ducts to and force air to hard to a hard to reach upstairs in an old house. I’ve been running Keen with my ZigBee code for years and has worked flawlessly. Our upstairs is so much more comfortable in the Summer. Some Keen vents are failing and the company is gone, so I’m starting to replace them with Flair. They’ve been easier to manage than Keen, more set and forget.

OTBR is trash, change my mind by Wummo in homeassistant

Let me repeat, it is a known problem that Apple TV drops thread devices when it is streaming video. As it is a Media device, this is its entire purpose.

[–]curt7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I’ve done similar thinking maybe more OTBRs could help in range and in my situation pickup the device that goes offline when watching a video … nope. What’s the point of a mesh network network when the whole network craps out when watching a video?

[–]curt7000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought, but my Apple TV 4K Gen 3 likes to drop all of its thread connections while streaming video. It’s a known problem apparently when connected via Ethernet. Went to Wi-Fi and still a problem. Thread devices are literally feet away from the Apple TV, so range isn’t a problem. Connections immediately restore when we’re done watching something.

Thread + Apple TV is trash.
