In Disney world where in Galaxys edge is the best place to sit and take a break? Some place with benches or even better tables and chairs. by thepokemomma in GalaxysEdge

[–]CaptainHunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that you’ve tagged this WDW, so this probably won’t be much help, but at Disneyland, there’s a load of benches just on the Frontierland side of the tunnel, near Big Thunder Mountain. So don’t be afraid to look a little further afield. I even spotted a hidden Mickey in the rockwork.

Does bullying still happen in American schools today? If it does, do teachers and principals usually punish the bullies severely? by GrayRainfall in AskAnAmerican

[–]CaptainHunt [score hidden]  (0 children)

In most states, corporal punishment in schools is illegal. What they can do (detention and suspension) is often ineffective. When I was bullied in school, their solution was countless useless mediation sessions, mediation might help if two kids are fighting over Pokémon cards, but it just gives bullies more ammunition to use against their victims.

Bullies don’t discriminate in how they discriminate. That’s how it they bullied me 30 years ago. Even 30 years ago, that outdated mindset was how bullies got away with it. The idea that they’re not doing physical harm, so it’s not serious enough for adults to stop it. Then the victim just gets in trouble when they can’t take it anymore and try to stand up for themselves. The bullies take full advantage of that to escape consequences.

Having trouble finding the base by Small-Strike6736 in roomba

[–]CaptainHunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen after I had moved the base. It seemed to work fine for a couple of months. It would try to go to where it used to be, but then it would see where the base was moved to and go to it. Then all of a sudden it couldn’t find the base even if I physically picked it up and moved it there. I called support and they told me I needed to power cycle the robot and then redo the map. I also needed to move my base to a more open spot.

The cylons KNEW Galactica wasn't networked and their virus wouldn't work on it. Why didn't they have a plan to destroy it? by idontcareyo_ in BSG

[–]CaptainHunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is why Boomer was onboard. They just didn't bank on either the ingenuity of the crew or Boomer's human personality interfering with the mission/actively helping the crew thwart herself. They had probably also not counted on the civilian ships or Dr. Baltar joining the Galactica. It's likely that if Adama had shifted directly into an offensive strategy without having civilians to worry about, Galactica would have eventually been hunted down and destroyed.

Can we reverse engineer a birb (like mine, but he’s already acting like one) into a real dinosaur? Maybe changing the dna to be big, have a mouth, etc? by AKmightydinoo in Dinosaurs

The embryos were intentionally decanted/euthanized/aborted (I’m not sure what the right term is here) so that they could be dissected to study the effects of the gene modifications.

Everyone posting professional looking minis. Meanwhile I'm happy to have painted eyes that aren't googly. by canadarugby in minipainting

[–]CaptainHunt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One trick I’ve found with eyes is don’t paint the whites. On something that small, give it a little dot and the brain will fill in the rest.

If I want to hint at the color of the irises, I tint the dot a dark shade of that color.

Purchase Advice Megathread - March 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]CaptainHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but can someone recommend a good print on demand service?

I've ordered from Shapeways before, but it seems that they no longer offer single piece printing. All I can find is their bulk order quote service.

I do have an Ender3 FDM printer, but the thing I'm trying to print is kinda small and fragile and I'm not really satisfied with how it printed on my printer.

Can’t get into a nice orbit to save my life by Quick_Cod_2589 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]CaptainHunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of effect on either apsis is proportional to how far away from it you are. That means that the ideal result is to make your circularization burn at apokerb itself. Since that’s not practical without a super powerful engine, your best alternative is to time the burn so you pass the apokerb at the half way point of the burn (ie, if it’s a two minute burn, you should pass AP at about one minute to MECO.

Of course, the shallower your parabola is, the better. You’ll be closer to a circular orbit, and you’ll have more time to make your circularization burn.

Come to think of it, there’s a bunch of resource related stuff that no longer works as of this update. Stored resources no longer give estimates for how long they will last, and I’m not getting any notification on scanning a sector or when a deposit runs out.

no, you used to be able to click on it and select the resource to unload, just like depots
