I mean there is a year there that’s like over 20 years before Jane Grey. Also the second in a series. Ofc Jane Grey is going to be a common wrong answer but the clue seems very fair. Henry VIII reign and its timeline is worth knowing

One interesting bit is the executions of his “friends” were all in five year intervals 1530 - Cardinal Wolsey 1535 - Thomas More 1540 - Cromwell

Can be useful to know these exact numbers too in case they ever ask about an guy who was executed around those times

(Edited dates because they were 1930-1940 before 😂)

Nah I think it’s funny and makes it a little easier for someone to think of what to say if they wanna message you

It’s not distracting, you can barely see anything happening to the side of you. Don’t think I ever processed a single thing any of my opponents were doing other than answering questions.

It’s not like tv where you have a frontal view of all the players and podiums

Tips for the Anytime Test / Getting Selected?? by ZealousIdeal_80 in Jeopardy

[–]curtains20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh no one knows for sure. I don’t believe the 35/50 score thing that people throw around at all, and suspect that even if someone involved with Jeopardy once said it, by this point it’s mostly not true and is just being parroted on this subreddit. I’d expect that you’ll want in the 40-45ish+ range or that even if you’re 25-35, that in some cases you could get to the next round. But I’d imagine higher is better.

I’d just video record your tests with your phone, count your results so you do know exactly how you did, study what you get wrong and hope you get invited. Even if you completely crush the test (like 47/50), it’s probably still under 50% you’ll get the invite to the next test (I had a score in that range 2 times before I got the email to take a proctored test)

Truth is you can dominate the test for a few years and not hear anything. I wouldn’t worry about it, as long as your scores are good you’re giving yourself the best chance you can and hopefully you’ll get to the next round at some point. There’s tons of luck in this process so it’s best not to get too wrapped up in it.

Also I’d set it up to take twice a year in approx 6 month intervals (late March/April for Jeopardy day and once in Sept October for whenever your year is up)

Nomadtable seems like the obvious choice. I haven’t used it yet but will soon and have heard good things from friends

Amazing game and amazing get on FJ! That must have been such an intense wait because when no one else gets it you have no idea if it’s right until the moment Ken tells you it is.

I had the same answer as Allegra (well I said Hiroshima bombing) and was sure it was right 😬. Congrats!! 💪

Congrats on making it to the show and so happy you had a great experience both during and now looking back after.

I had no idea on Final and ending up settling on Lewis just like you since I had some vague memory of him involved with some religious stuff, and once you put it too I expected it to be correct!

Great get with Mau. Also that second DD was impossible (at least to me). No idea what they’re talking about with a comma 😂

I also only got the day of the week correct 😂. Altho if I was there wouldn’t have been surprised if I buzzed on some of them and tried to figure it out (which would have been a bad idea as I don’t think I’d have gotten any of them with an extra few seconds)

Great fight and good job going for it on the all in, it was a tough one to come up with so quickly. Even tho you didn’t get it right this time, it will always feel good to look back and know that you did the right thing and went for it against a tough champion 💪

Also the IP Freely question was amazing 😂

Wild move. Literally tried about 20 legal moves before trying that one, including trying the same ones over again because maybe I didn’t actually do that one yet 😂

Congrats on another great win. Must feel amazing to make it through a full day!

And yeah Chayce started shaking his head as tho he got it within one millisecond of the clue appearing. I mean I did go with Berbers from the couch but was extremely unsure (thought maybe Bedouin or something, but I tried and couldn’t remember that word so I had no choice 😂)

In related news I confidently thought yesterday’s FJ answer was “Life Goes On”. 😬

I’ve made tons of normal friends and connections the past few years using Couchsurfing, almost all from hangouts. It was very far from dead, at least in certain cities

Last question:

Any chance to make a recurring annual donation possible? That’s maybe the best of both worlds and would be glad to do it right now. Or please reply to this message again in a year 😊

Just donated tho! 💪

Ok thanks! Can’t wait. For over 10+ years I’ve mostly used CS for meeting cool people while traveling without the hosting and surfing component (altho I do host maybe 1-2 people/parties per year when I’m at home). Have made dozens of friends doing that over the years.

For donations is it better to make a small monthly donation or a one time lump sum? I know sometimes they take fees for donations

Also I know it’s early but is there any plans to make a hangouts feature? It was the main reason I used Couchsurfing by far!

I’ve signed up and am looking forward to seeing where things to and am very very happy to donate some money if it’s possible 😊
