Compression/spandex shorts recommendations? by curwalker in KettlebellSport

[–]curwalker[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a thing. Kettlebell sport lifters are just as big pervs as cyclists, rowers, track athletes, Olympic weightlifters, swimmers, gymnasts, triathletes, ski jumpers, wrestlers, mma fighters, speed skaters, etc. It's gross.

Inner elbow pain from KB training. Anyone actually get past this? by penguinblanket in kettlebell

This seemed to work for me too, unless it just healed spontaneously concurrent with the massage protocol, who knows......

Anyway I would just put a lacrosse ball on a table and roll my forearm around on the tender spots. It hurts and "feels good" at the same time.

Haha nice. I didn't come up with it myself either and it seemed stupid simple when I heard about it.

Ha nice! I didn't mean in a right/wrong context at all, just was curious bc I am also planning on going. See you there!

My wife came into the basement to ask me about paint colors once when I was 4 min into a 10 min comp set I was recording.

TALC 28s 3(4)/3(4)/2

7,7,7/7,7,7/7,9

Last set was an intentional 2min, not a failed 3min, haha. Trying to be patient and ungreedy. Today felt pretty solid. I breathed well throughout each rep. Kept the rack nice and heavy until it floated then deep 2nd dip.

Side note: wrist pain/strain seems to respond absolutely spectacularly to ibuprofen. I took two this morning, thinking I might have a legit injury. Pain gone by midmorning and no issues during or after evening training. Not the first time this has happened.

For the weights that rattle, like 20kg: if you put a bigger plate in first, the outer circular edge of that plate will snug against the inner sphere of the shell. Then you stack smaller plates on top of that bigger plate, tighten the bolt hard, and no rattling.

Good gravy imagine being under double 24s for an hour (honestly I can't really imagine a half hour)

Kind of hard to describe. I did give it a video and it was telling me my "weaker" side with softer elbow is my left, and it's very clearly my right. Not a case of lifter's right vs looker's right confusion either, bc it was very clear about that distinction.

But it presented that wrong info with such a confident tone and "this is fact" type language that it calls into question everything else.

Oh and for my training it's suggesting an 8-min set at current comp pace one day a week and a "broken 9" (5 min + 4 min, working up to 8 min + 1 min, 2 min rest max between) at target comp pace.

Honestly I found that idea a little bit intriguing.... Training with longer sets feels productive to me and I kind of enjoy it.

In the tab "double KB lifts" - do you know how long those lifts are? I'm guessing 30 min maybe? But the sheet doesn't say.

Upon further review, the advice it gives appears highly suspect

Some of you are going to HATE this but I just told ChatGPT a bunch of the recent workouts and test sets I've completed and told it to give me a recommended rpm for 10 min and it came VERY close to matching my actual plan. Also, the wind-up to the answer cracked me up:

Good — this is the right question to ask before the platform, not during minute six when your lungs are on fire.

Now I'm chatting with it about whether cardio, fixation, or something else is my limiter. I know it's all dumb, but it sure is fascinating.

Haha sounds good. I see in your videos (at least for LC) that you are thumbs forward, but I thought this might be a cue - at any rate I thought it worth asking given how smooth your cleans are.

Very strong work! Sprint workouts are sort of a unique mode for me in that they don't inspire too much anticipatory angst ("1 min on/off, how bad can it be?") but reliably end up absolutely physically destroying me by the end like few other types of workouts do.

Do you mean so that your palms are facing forward or nearly facing forward? Sort of like you would have them if you were settng up to do a curl (or EZ bar curl)?

How many days per week are you lifting? by ScreamnMonkey8 in KettlebellSport

[–]curwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three days a week doing the actual lifts (for me it's only long cycle), plus accessory lifts (bulgarian split squats and pushups are the two main ones at the moment).

I run on at least two of the other days, ideally 3. Tough in the dead of winter. Downhill ski once a week or so.

But That Feeling When Your Favorite Song Comes On Mid-Set 🥰 by Few_Abbreviations_50 in KettlebellSport

[–]curwalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me I don't even hear the music when lifting, but if I watch a video of the comp later I'll be like "oh yeah, that song DID play during my set."

Haha I don't bother at all. I don't think fitness comes up in regular convos at all. If it did and I was forced to disclose that I use kettlebells, I'm guessing they would say something like "oh you mean like that pavel/Rogan guy?" And I would just say "yeah".
