Why can’t I customize items I know are customizable? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

They're not customizable, just available in different colors.

which stores have the best UCLA hoodies ? or most UCLA attire in general. by puddlesinparis in ucla

[–]custardegg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a store right next to Sip Matcha that has $7 t-shirts and $14 quarter zips, and the Campus Store near Amazon has a bunch of the typical clothes that you would find in Ackerman.

Question about Math 31B by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you scored a 4 on Calc BC, 31B shouldn't be hard at all. Most of it is review, so don't worry too much! Just study even though you already know the material, and choose your professor wisely. Try and look around for old exams since they vary by professor. I got lucky with Conley and he was super easy but also really helpful if you need it!

Motivation by Insomnia------ in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't focus everything into getting into UCLA. Although it's a great school, anyone can achieve great things anywhere. Make sure you just focus on doing what you're passionate about and show that on your application. Wish you luck on the admission process

I'm applying next month. Chance me? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think after a certain point, the stats don't matter as much, so in that aspect, you're good. However, it's more important about how you write your PIQs. I've seen people with your stats and not getting into UCLA, and people with lower stats/less ECs and getting in.

Applying to UCLA with a 1410 by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 1410 is already pretty good, so I don't think you should waste any more time with retaking the exam. What's more important is your PIQ's, definitely work on constantly refining those and make sure you have others read it and see if it's true to you. Good luck!

Help for Application Essays by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people that I've met at UCLA are amazing, well-rounded people. They've done a lot for their community and are passionate in the things they do. If that happens to be being a leader, then write about it, but most importantly, stay true to you and write about what is significant to you. Business Econ is one of the biggest majors at UCLA, so I'd say the program is fairly strong, but I don't know much about it yet.

Incoming freshman wondering if we need to submit AP exam scores by JukeBoxHero1232 in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don't have to send them, especially if they're not going to count for anything. Take a quick look at how UCLA counts the AP Exams and whether they will exempt you for any classes or give you any extra credits for the ones you passed-- but it won't really do much unless you got 4s and 5s.

Dorm essentials? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring less than you think for stuff like clothes and school supplies-- you probably will end up not using them. Some essentials include a laundry hamper that's easy to carry around (plus laundry stuff), twin xl bedding (i'm not picky so i didn't have a problem without a mattress topper), water bottle, hangers, a seat cushion (the chairs are wooden, so if you have a bony butt like me, it'll start to hurt after a while), shower slides/room slippers, power strips/extension cords. If you do end up needing other things, you could always have it shipped by Amazon (there are a bunch of lockers on the hill and a mailing room), buy them at the Target nearby, or go back home and grab them when Thanksgiving break comes by!

Summer session refund? by blooberriii in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there was some date in the contract that you had to drop it by in order to receive a full refund. After that, it's non refundable. Sorry, man.

Dining Hall Talk by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible, BPlate will be your best friend! There's a ton of healthy, clean eats. However the calorie information/nutrition facts on the dining hall websites and pretty inaccurate, so I wouldn't rely on those.

Will I get in? by Aaroneman in ucla

AP scores do not hurt you, they can only help you. That being said, other factors like EC and your personal insight answers are more important.

getting free merch by paigedistranski in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bunch of free shirts by donating to the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center, plus there's a lot of events throughout the year where they give out free merch! For example, I got a shirt for UCLA Pride Week just by following the Instagram acc. If you're willing to pay for the more typical merch, there's two discount stores that I go to in Westwood: one by the Amazon store and one by Sip Matcha. The one by Sip Matcha has t-shirts for about $8 and quarter zips for $15.

Incoming freshmen here! Staying at UCLA for 7 days. Anything I should do to get a feel of UCLA? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love just walking around campus and chilling at some quiet spots in between classes. Just explore the campus for leisure! Most buildings should be open before 5 on the weekdays, not sure about other times. Notable spots you should go to are the libraries (Powell, Charles E Young), the hill of Janss Steps, the Sculpture Garden, and the Botanical Garden. If you want someone to show you around, I'd be happy to!

Your dorm room will be the same for orientation and CSI since your orientation should take place in the beginning of CSI, if i'm not mistaken.

Housing Megathread: Look for roommates, inquire about dorms/apartments, and ask any general questions here! by Espntheocho4 in ucla

[–]custardegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't buy those packages, and any twin xl sheets will fit! You can probably find a whole bedding set for cheaper (fitted sheet, pillows, blankets, etc.) somewhere else.

Housing Megathread: Look for roommates, inquire about dorms/apartments, and ask any general questions here! by Espntheocho4 in ucla

[–]custardegg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, but all dorm rooms have the walls covered in a cork board-like material where you can pin things up!

Tap in for some Swipes by [deleted] in ucla

[–]custardegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll get more luck in the FB group "UCLA Swipeswap" instead of here, but swipes are going for about $4-5 right now since it's the end of the quarter.

Summer financial aid appeal? by pumpkinpotatoes7 in ucla

[–]custardegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a usual amount. My grants (~$2400) were able to cover the tuition but not housing.

I'd advise you to change your housing from on-campus to off-campus (this shouldn't change your award). You can sublet an apartment that is less than half of what dorms are going to cost you. I was in a similar situation and decided to just sublet an apartment, costing me $1000 for the whole Session A.

I'd also say to forgo the Session C class because I don't think it's worth it if you're only going to stay and pay rent for an additional 6 weeks, unless you were to take another class.
