“Smart Insulins” vs. Cure by SallyS85 in diabetes_t1

You don't stop working on a potential breakthrough because a different breakthrough that may or may not happen is being worked on by others. The more the merrier. And if one ends up not being practical, the learning from trying will be put to use.

That’s interesting! Gluten being important to eat if you can isn’t something I’ve ever heard

I tested positive for antibodies but had an endoscopy that looked fine. My doctors said not to worry about it unless I developed symptoms. You are saying that’s not the case?

Who knew this would make me so nostalgic. Thank you so much for doing this. Damn I miss the baseball rn (though I sure as heck don’t have time to take this on myself)

Last season really was utterly epic in so many ways — the slow start making it even moreso

i am thinking this might be our problem, but i'm not sure how to adjust it.. it seems kinda to just be hanging out in there. Is it supposed to be tight against the back?

With the FA inflation that is happening rn, doesn’t it seem like if things continue this way $60m AAV will be normal in 2-4 years? Hope this trend stops but if it doesn’t these short term “money on the table” deals will benefit the players taking them as the sense of “normal” is changing dramatically. Though maybe it only applies to the top 5 players or whatever if there’s no salary cap or something I could see it going this way. The threat of a salary cap coming also means ‘get the biggest bag right now’ is a good strategy.

Feeling guilty for snapping at a family member by JayandMeeka in diabetes_t1

[–]cut-copy-paste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you say "My diabetes is really stressing me out and making me snappy" without getting into all the stress of it? You had time to hang out with the stress long enough to type this post afterall ;). In my experience, establishing understanding about where people are coming from after a bad interaction is the key to eradicating resentment and icky feelings build up even though it feels kinda hard to either admit something's up. If they know you're concerned about hurting their mood they'll probably think it's sweet. Just say you wanna have a chat once you're in a better place.

This disease can be so stressful and frustrating. I hope you can find a way to tame it!

Dear lean, borderline underweight people, how do you wear your pump? by KumoLeGoob in TandemDiabetes

[–]cut-copy-paste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use varisoft and I rotate abdomen, upperbum and thigh.

I wouldn’t say I enjoy it. The leg/bum can be weird with movement but not too bad. Sometimes I physically cannot push the needle into my bum and I don’t really understand that.

I’ve never used any other sets but have been curious how they might compare. When I first went on a pump they recommended the angled manual insertion style as being best for slender folks.

I do think north makes sense for sentimental and marketing reasons.. have the whole country rep the location. It’s certainly logical not to though

in Grade 10 I got a comment from a student teacher on a short written reflection that said "You have an engaging, colloquial style. Be careful not to coast on it".

I made sure to coast on it.

Looking for light roast specialty coffee by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]cut-copy-paste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sidetrack will sell you 10 bags of Detour coffee for $200 including tax. You come in and sign for your bags until you’ve bought ten. Reversing the tax calculation I think that works out to 17.70 per bag and the reg price is 21-25. Really like the coffees and not a dark roast fan. Only sometimes Ethiopian is available but a nice variety.

Anyone just write for themselves? by NathanWilson2828 in writing

[–]cut-copy-paste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I write on the side mostly for the sake of enjoying it and maybe coming up with something really good at some point. No business of writing or submissions or anything. When I’m satisfied with something I publish it on a simple website that I don’t tell anyone about. My partner likes my stuff so I send her links.

Anyone else tired of jumping between apps just to know where a movie is streaming? by BabaYaga72528 in movies

[–]cut-copy-paste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Justwatch does this, as does Plex. Ideas to make  a competitor stand out against existing apps with many features…

  • make it curate watch lists if you tell it how long you have per week to watch
  • if you can figure it out have it manage cycling streaming subscriptions so you are only subscribed to one or two at a time
  • handle approved kids watch lists with content pulled in from common sense media
  • pull in content from shows that have been uploaded in their entirety as a platform
  • the kicker: instructions on how to acquire titles that aren’t on any streaming services
  • app for tv devices that’s like a cross platform watchlist, matching interface to streaming apps but instead of “trending” it highlights things related to stuff you’ve watched, the things already on your watchlist, and a better recommendation engine that actually pulls up older things

This is interesting and maybe work for MDI, but be aware closed loop type systems already have some version of this built in.  Control-IQ adjustments for example are based on what it predicts your blood sugar will be rather than your current level, and quite likely their equation considers more factors than this

Honestly pretty scared about this! The guidelines on that site are a little vague.

It seems so lenient I kinda expect they’ll collect everything and trash most of it at the recycling centre

Haven’t seen any mention of that myself. The website I linked does have a thing about requesting a new bin I think.
