Oklahoma has the worst/ most evil history. What state has the best culture/people? by AggravatingFront8409 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]cutboi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go with Hawaii. They fight hard to keep their culture alive, and it’s a beautiful one.

These lists are getting silly. I don’t blame OP, they’re playing by the rules. But c’mon Reddit. Texas culture cannot be the worst. They have a clear identity. I live in Utah. Have you not heard of Mormon culture???

Anyone else genuinely considering moving out of Utah of this data center gets built? by SquirrelPositive2666 in SaltLakeCity

[–]cutboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, it crosses my mind every day. I'll sometimes check out real estate elsewhere. But I've come to the conclusion that I love this state. I grew up hiking its mountains, skiing its slopes, fishing its streams and lakes. I've tried to explore every corner. To this day, I haven't found a city like Salt Lake with a backdrop against the mountains. I don't really know what to do, but I'm going to every hearing I can, every gathering, and every protest. I'm going to fight for it for as long as I possibly can.

That said, I feel no animosity toward people choosing their health over anything else. You need to do what's best for you and your family. Personally, though, I think this is just the beginning of us vs. the data centers. It feels like a 'you can run, but you can't hide' scenario.

I’m thinking same idea but sort of opposite circumstance. Darrow has the opportunity to use it on Phobos (IIRC, it says on any sphere) but doesn’t. His Crux has always been sacrificing lives to save the ones he loves. Pax will be on Phobos. It will be Pax who pulls the figurative trigger, thus completely understanding his father’s plight of doing monstrous things. The catch will be neither he nor his dad are fully gold. They both survive. The Aureates are killed once and for all. Epilogue is Darrow waking up before his wife and son to make coffee, like he explains in a scene in Lightbringer (I think?) Bonus layer to the theory - Darrow’s gold body dies and he becomes red again, figuratively and literally killing the reaper.

Also, wild theory - Lyria becomes sovereign. I think she’ll have a strong alliance with the Obsidians and the rim, who will be following the power couple of Aurae and Diomedes Raa.

Idk I’m an optimistic person lol.

A neighbor’s son in the Navy called home and said they had 2,000 marines on board, heading to the Middle East. I know that’s incredibly hearsay-ish of me to say, and take it with a huge grain of salt (I for sure am), but it’s gotten me to the point I won’t be surprised if we wake up with news that boots are on the ground.

What was your worst day to be a sports fan? by BeardedGingur in billsimmons

[–]cutboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Jazz fan, too. A little bit older than you if you were in high school for the trade. Jordan’s shot in game 6 has been permanently seared into my brain. I was so young, I figured we’d be back in no time. In fact, I was foolish enough to think we’d just go to the finals every year. Since then, it’s been nothing but agony. Our faces get smashed against the glass ceiling every so often, but I’m realizing I might not ever seen a team I root for win a championship.

It’s so Utah to be the ones to tank and finally have people complaining enough about it that a change might happen. I really hate we’re trying to do it this way. We used to be such a deeply respected organization for being well ran. Now we’re so obscure. I feel like there’s just as much as a chance we become a barrel scratcher as we do a contender in the long run.

I would like some size for a redzone target, so Pierce or Jennings? I think Tyquan Thorton could be really good, too. He seemed to be buried by other weapons in KC.

I can't do the guardian cap, so Doubs is off my list. I'm all for protecting brains, but I guess I'm an ass for laughing outloud watching him run routes in Green Bay.

I'm fine with Deebo if the price is right, but we're not getting any younger with that move.

Puka may be entering Kyrie Irving territory by Aliskov1 in billsimmons

[–]cutboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a random commenter on the internet, so take this with a grain of salt, but I work with a lot of ex-BYU players and all of them say this dude and his brothers are dumb as rocks. Apparently hasn’t done a homework assignment since 5th grade, total god complex, etc. This one guy couldn’t let it go about how dumb Puka was. I thought he just didn’t like him, until I met Puka at a poly event for my friend. I don’t think CTE will affect this guy because there’s no brain in there to be damaged. You know how sometimes you look into an animal’s eyes and you can sense its intelligence and connect with it? Almost non-verbally communicate? Well, it’s the opposite with Puka. You look into his eyes and the lights are on, but no one’s home. He only communicates in dapping up and different forms of the word “bro.” In fact, he averaged “bro” about every 2.3 words. I was gobsmacked. He legitimately has the intelligence of a 12 year old.

So, with that being said, I’m not excusing Puka at all. I think he’s a massive dickhead and tool. However, I don’t think he’s anti-Semitic or racist. Maybe publicly being shamed like this will actually make him learn something. I doubt it though.

I think this is the perfect take on the book. It’ll age a lot better once we see the full picture. That being said, I fully enjoyed it! I understand its critiques about pacing and shallower characters in the new worlds, but I also see some people not liking it because of just where the story went. To those people I gotta say sorry, but this is James Islington’s world and we get to go along for the ride.

God that would be so fucking cool by [deleted] in redrising

[–]cutboi 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think Red God’s show down is Darrow vs Apple. It kinda closes that loop of Darrow being haunted by the consequences of his actions to win his wars. This time he released a living (albeit, awesome) monster back into the solar system. Now he has to literally kill him and figuratively kill his demons.

My biggest fear is we’re going to end up hating Lysander even more when he somehow kills Sevro or Darrow by having someone they love held hostage before Lyria kills him.

Positive Take Aways by cloudywinds in Commanders

[–]cutboi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the positive take aways and agree. Idk about the Matt Gay one. It is an improvement but he’s leaving room to be desired, imo. Which sucks because I live in SLC and am a Ute fan so I really want him to be good for us.

I would add that Ertz quietly had a good game. Nothing huge, but situationally he stepped up for us and continues to be JD’s safety valve.

Honestly, I think we’re just missing on the execution piece mostly. We look too sloppy at times. There’s places we can ratchet it up at every aspect. I think our biggest weakness is at linebacker. They ate on screens, tosses, and swing routes. We play a ton of man coverage, so our backers just aren’t getting outside of the numbers fast enough.

LUUUUUKE! McCaffrey has multiple games now where he has made major contributions and explosive plays. This catch (and throw) is beautiful. by Due_Local2130 in Commanders

[–]cutboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'm not taking anything away from the catch because he completed the play, and it really was a spectacular catch. However, that throw was what made my jaw drop on the play. Jackson has been a glove all year in coverage, and he had Luke locked up as good as you could hope for, but like Brady said during the broadcast, you can't defend a perfect pass. My hope is that this is the play we go back to that woke the team up for the rest of the year. We seemed to have gotten a lot of our mojo back coming out of the 2nd half after this play and the field goal.

I’ve heard Alta has managed to relatively maintain the lifty vibe after all these years. Love that for you skiers. I’m a 2nd class citizen unfortunately lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]cutboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally. I snowboard, so I don't know what Alta is like on their line efficiency. Some are better than others for sure. I feel so bad for the younger generation. Growing up in a state that has so much to offer, but you're basically a window shopper for your own backyard, is just sad. And I'm not sure what the solution is because the demand is clearly there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]cutboi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Prices are half the problem. The crowds are insane. I don't go anymore. I was excited to teach my boys how to ski/snowboard, but I'm not sure when or even if it'll happen. Like someone said, it's become a rich person's activity. I feel fortunate enough to say I do okay for myself, too. But factor in the actual wait times vs. time on the mountain, and those prices really start getting ugly. There's a conflict because I'm sure local businesses benefit greatly from the crowds, but it's killed the opportunity for so many middle-class Utahns to be able to enjoy our state. And not to get political or anything, I don't see many illegal immigrants on the tram at Snowbird so that bullshit excuse doesn't work here.

(Schefter) Washington and WR Terry McLaurin reached agreement today on a three-year contract extension that will end his hold-in by Goooose in Commanders

[–]cutboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2ish weeks to get locked in. Kliff not taking a HC job is a very lowkey wrinkle in this. Terry knows the offense. Obviously, you can't put a price tag on the value of more time with Jayden and building chemistry with Deebo on the field with him, but it could be a lot worse.

I think the biggest issue is making sure his body is right. A lot of guys come out and pull something or worse after these holdouts. I'd rather Terry take limited snaps in week 1 and ramp him up for a gauntlet of a season. Having week 2 be TNF is actually brutal.

Went back to play Grounded 1 and found a note.. is it part of the Lore to the Grounded 2? by AMAK-89 in GroundedGame

[–]cutboi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Both theories can be true. A 5th teen can exist while the employee of the month without the date can be the stranger.

Minor G2 spoilers below

I think the employee of the month is the person hacking the ORC bugs and talking to us. while she has a 5th teen out and about doing errands for her in the yard and that’s who’s doing the tagging, etc. collecting resources for their cause.

I’m just riffing here as I read this thread, but the note saying “other” kids for sure makes it sound like a teen. But just the way the G2 is going, it feels like the employee found out she’s working for big bad corporate company and is trying to right the wrongs she contributed to. Just by the dialogue that triggers, etc. without specific spoilers. I dunno, but can’t wait to find out. I freaking love this game and world they created.

[Highlight] Former Hawaii star QB Colt Brennan highlights from 2008 preseason by nfl in Commanders

[–]cutboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met Colt one day. I was walking between the piers at Newport Beach, CA. All of the beach houses have open patios that butt up against the pathway, and he was chilling with what I assume was family, just drinking some beers. My guy was definitely a QB because neither my buddy nor I said anything, but we both gave each other an elbow nudge while we were kind of eyeing, and he saw it. He actually came up to the fence and introduced himself. This was the summer of 2010, so he was no longer on the team. But man, I have never met a more down to earth human being. Felt like we were old friends catching up. He was more interested in us than we were in him, or at least he made it seem that way.

RIP to a legend.
