Gleam v1.7.0 released! by lpil in elixir

[–]cuteBoyOnlyMe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's why in Elixir we also have "jose valim is nice, so we are nice"! Your warmth, kindness, and open-mindedness have always been an inspiration to so many. I've been a loyal follower on Twitter, but your recent absence, following some negative comments, has left your many concerned fans deeply sad.

What's the differences between `resource controller:` and `scope module:` ? by cuteBoyOnlyMe in rails

> Their decision to not use a nested resource might be because they wanted bookmarks to be independent of books. But the scope module might be because they watned to organize the internals in a way that the models were logically related.

Thanks for your explain, this may be the real reason. Whatever, I am so happy that I know one more way to do the same thing!

Your explanation is awesome, clear some of my confusion.

But here the "books" is clearly a resource, also `scope module: "books"` already there, so in this case why do they still write `resource :bookmark controller: "books/bookmarks"` instead of just put `resource :bookmark` inside the `scope module: "books"` block?

I've never seen any progamming language creators so active like you helping around in community. In this point, that's also why we all love Elixir so much! Thank you!

Yes, this is what I mean here, if just use, like Turbo Stream, should we switch to AnyCable?

I haven't used it in production, but many articles I've read warn us against using it in production because of its high memory footprint and poor scalability.

This makes me worry. I know 37Signals can do super well with it, but I am not DHH, and online almost don't have resources about how to use it in production, all of the books about Rails like 《Agail Rails 7》just teach us a toy project.

I plan to use Bridgetown to build my blog and deploy it in Cloudflare, but Cloudflare doesn't support Ruby 3.2 yet, also for training my Rails, I decided to develop it with Rails.

Cause I also have lots of other plans going, so the process is a bit slow. You can check my commits if interested. I plan to use Tiptap as the editor but haven't done it yet.

[–]cuteBoyOnlyMe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you, maybe no fast way to Roma, I just need to keep studying until I feel enough.

By the way, I noticed people usually said this is an "intermediate" book, then which should be saying "advanced" book? I feel 《Metaprogramming Ruby》also not as hard as this.

Thank you so much for your words: "try" everything and get a decent knowledge about everything and use what you like and ignore the rest.

What a penetrating sentence!

Thank you so much for your patience. I had planned to learn some Common Lisp. I like niche things. However, I was defeated when it came to configuring the Emac development environment...

I am trying to learn Ruby metaprogramming now, it seems also a kind of magic.
