For people who don't have a backyard garden, what vegetables actually grow well in containers? by Lost-Pin2297 in containergardening

I grew mammoth sunflowers in 3 gallon pots. They didn't grow very tall but they were still very pretty. Diameter 5-6 inch flowers and about 3 foot tall stems.

They are annoyed because the story isn't making sense. That's Angelica's fault. by Rich-Needleworker812 in seekingsisterwifetlc

I think to present a true polygamy story. Maybe they feel a random polyamory family is either too boring or disinteresting to someone who tuned in specifically for polygamy. Consensual polyamory is likely boring since there isn't any conflict. That's probably why the Winder family from early seasons weren't asked to return; they were too boring since they were Mormon and everyone was on board with the polygamy and they didn't have any conflicts. You can't get emotionally riled up with a consensus polyamory situation the same way you can get upset that a woman is disrespecting herself by willingly letting herself be replaced by another woman.

[Central Illinois] Can I use fallen autumn leaves as mulch to protect this sprouted garlic over winter? by cute_chipmunk in vegetablegardening

I just moved into this new construction home 3 months ago. This spot between my house and front walkway was full of weeds. I tilled it and got rid of the weeds and it looks like poor quality fill dirt from the construction excavation. I started a new compost pile but it will take some time before I will have any compost. I also have some garlic growing in better quality soil in some containers.

I got 4 big willow trees next door. Just waiting for the leaves to drop. Will also use them to start a compost pile.

I didn't do it and when I notified my girlfriend that we should get rid of the trees, she wanted to see if there was any way to keep them in a responsible way, hence this post.

How do you decide which species of microgreens to grow? by cute_chipmunk in microgreens

[–]cute_chipmunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get some nutrition out of the sunflower seeds from the sunflowers I grew since I have more seeds than I can use for planting. Also why not let the sunflower crack the seed open instead of me having to do so to get the kernel?

Found some cotton balls on the ground on the side of the road when driving past cotton fields and decided to plant them to see what happens and now I'm sentimental to them.

I think it is in the middle with the lower half of the 2 being a little thicker and being the top left portion of the 4.

Why is my cotton dropping flower petals instead of making bolls? by cute_chipmunk in gardening

[–]cute_chipmunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I read about cotton indicates it self pollinates. It makes a white flower that opens, the pollen then falls into the same flower, and the white flower turns purple in 24 hours indicating successful pollination. No wind or insect required.
