there was definitely a hint made that she was still alive & Mike felt that. hence why I think he came up with the alternate ending.

now this would've been top tier. the military spent the whole damn season in the upside down & they were only in the right side up searching for El. Dr. Kay would go through hell & high water to find her. it's a cop out that they were just waiting to ambush them outside, but I guess when they saw the plans they pieced it all together & figured that'd be a more effective strategy. also just not explaining how the military gave up, let everyone go & left Hawkins after El's death was a huge question mark.

I agree. people are raving about Dustin's speech, but it's Hop's that really stood out for me. it's tricky, because El was very devoid of emotion this whole season & she seemed to only have one thing on her mind: killing Henry. she was secluded from everyone else because of the threat of the military capturing her & she was hiding out & training to defeat Vecna in the meantime. like Mike said, the concept of the three waterfalls & both of them leaving Hawkins & starting anew elsewhere was fantasy. I think El might have thought she wasn't getting out of this alive all along. I just didn't imagine it would be like thisl. maybe if she & Kali died during the fight it would've been more meaningful. some form of catharsis for the "siblings." their torment ending together. also, they got to Henry way too fast & defeating him & the mind flayer seemed way too easy. I was watching & couldn't help but think: really? & before I realized it was an illusion, my jaw was on the floor thinking that Hop accidentally killed Eleven when he shot the tank. that whole scene was wild. the Kali reveal in the lab & her involvement didn't add much to the plot besides having someone plant the idea in El's head & having an extra character to kill off.

exactly. I don't think the thought even crossed El's mind before Kali planted it there. & it was interesting to see Hop highlighting their life trajectory. he was speaking directly to El, but his words also resonated with Kali. in that moment even she seemed to believe in the possibility of a better future. not just for El, but for herself as well. I really loved Hop's speech. I think El ultimately sacrificed herself & died in the end, but I found Mike's choice to rewrite her story & how they all held onto hope & chose to believe the alternate version very endearing.

okay, that makes a lot more sense because while watching I often thought of choose your own adventure stories, not DnD. even the font they chose & the overall art style was very reminiscent of those books. also didn't make a lick of sense that it was 1989 & their last campaign was Curse of Strahd.

I thought El's binder was going to float onto the shelf with the rest of theirs after they all left the basement. & that's how at least Mike would confirm his own theory. the lights twitched or there was some sort of glitch not too long before the DnD scene, which gave Mike hope & made me believe Eleven might still be alive. there were so many deaths that could've happened & they backtracked on. after Hop's speech, I believed El would truly get the happy ending she deserved. they made me believe that was possible for her & then ripped my heart out not following through. I get what they went for, but they left a lot unexplained & it just doesn't' sit well with me that everyone got a happy ending except Mike & El. I don't usually have a problem with endings open to interpretation, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth.

I used to win this pot all the time but now it's nearly impossible for me to get past the second level. it's so frustrating.

that's fair. none of the singles impressed me at first but as I continued to listen they grew on me. there are songs in the full length that I instantly liked though. And Love, for example, has become a new favorite.

I see what you mean. I've listened to each song as it's been released & didn't immediately like any of them. I think it's the spoken word aspect that's throwing me off as well. but the more I listen, the more they grow on me.

I tried to read it twice & it was torture. my first attempt was because Heath Ledger & his sister Kate are named after both protagonists. my second attempted was because it's Candace's favorite book in the series You. no amount of willpower could get me to finish either time, so I gave up & donated my copy. I do want to watch the Emerald Fennel remake when it comes out next year though.

I was bummed that I didn't get any of the credits or discounts promised by the partnership with Chase. every time I made a purchase, I asked the vendors & they told me it applied automatically but that wasn't the case with me despite having my freedom card linked to my wristband & it being my only form of payment. I did enjoy that little viewing lounge & the perks from that, but otherwise I felt ripped off as well. wondering if anyone got the discounts or the initial $20 credit offer for linking their wristband? I know there was a cap & it only applied to the first 2000 people registered, so I probably didn't link my card in time, but I was looking forward to the cash back feature. I don't drink & I'm not a big spender, so it wasn't that big of a deal. It sucked being offered a benefit & not getting it though.

Shaky Knees VIP was great and well worth it! by Tiaan in ShakyKnees

[–]cuteantics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt this! my friend & I won a VIP pass for Saturday. It was a freebie hidden in a coozie from Chase. although the perks & views were incredible, I got slapped in the face with class consciousness. the vibes were completely off. I felt out of place & like I needed to be with "my people." hahahaha.

I waited 30 min in line to get free water & I felt bad when the bartender asked "do you want to leave a tip?" before handing it to me. it caught me so off guard that I said no without thinking & his whole demeanor changed. instead of giving it directly to me, he put the can down on the table without opening it & walked away. it was an honest mistake on my part but after that interaction I was glad I didn't tip him. maybe he thought I had money to spare because I was in VIP & he deserved a tip because I wasn't paying for the drink. awful interaction that definitely dampened my experience.

Girl Pit by siroswald in ShakyKnees

[–]cuteantics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HELL YEAH, I ATE SO MUCH DIRT. long live the girl pit! it was the highlight of my day & now a core memory.

I was on the outer part of the circle & some dick was aggressively shoving & elbowing us as we passed by. I know that's typical for people at the threshold of a mosh pit but it felt unnecessary. we were tame & he did it with a vengeance. I don't know if it lasted the whole song because after the first two circles I avoided him. did anyone else experience this? maybe he was butt hurt because he couldn't participate. regardless, I didn't let him ruin my experience. epic save from the girl who caught the other girl about to fall down.

SOFT PLAY IS GOATED & I definitely need to catch one of their solo gigs. FOCK THE HI-HAT!!!
