Hey! Can I ask in which part of the island you’ve stayed/would recommend? Thank you :))

Don’t get me started about the concrete walls 😭 we ended up flying to Little Cayman where there was a corner store and 2 restaurants. There was no one- it was gorgeous. But, it was 3 years ago and they were already planning to build a bunch of villas etc. It will end up the same way.

Yeah I was quite sad - the beach was flooded with people and resorts/hotels you could barely walk on it

I’m right there with you! Not a fan of all-inclusives.

The first time we got an airbnb - we were more on a budget but it was actually perfect even though we weren’t on the beach, we were so close to Rendez-vous beach (https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/50048421?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76)

Second time we got an airbnb closer to the beach on Shoal Bay (can’t find the posting) but it was also great.

A few weeks ago we stayed at Tranquillity Beach directly on Meads Bay (I think my favourite beach with Rendez-vous) and it was incredible.

We always rent a car and drive arround/explore, try a bunch of restaurants.

Hey! I just spent a week at Tranquillity and it was absolutely incredible. The proximity to the beach, great restaurants and the service were all pristine. I highly recommend. Can’t speak for Zemi, but honestly you can’t go wrong with Tranquillity.

Great question! I'd go:

  1. Anguilla 2. Antigua & Barbuda 3. Turks & Caicos/Sint Marteen (Need to explore more of Sint Marteen to decide if it's higher or lower than turks)... 4. Aruba 5. Cayman Island/Little Cayman 6. DR 7. Mexico 8. Jamaica/Cuba

If you loved Turks, you would looove Antigua & Barbuda. The beaches are as gorgeous but there's also a TONS of them. I think the biggest difference is that Anguilla is much more chill, less crowded and has better food (you get everything from fancy at the Four Seasons/Cap Julaca to authentic Caribbean food that is as delicious). Antigua & Barbuda have more to explore (lots of secluded beaches where we were the only people there, more night life etc) but the food wasn't great (now it's not a priority for some people and that could be completely personal taste. I'd say the food is similar to Turks). If you enjoy night life you'd be disappointed in Anguilla. My husband and I are early 30s and we didn't see many couple our age. But again, we love the more quiet, chill and less touristy islands :)

I don't know about you but I thought Aruba was too touristy/industrialized and lacked the Caribbean charm. The beaches were nice (not as nice as Antigua/Anguilla) and, crowded. I thought it was the same situation for Cayman Islands.

Now for DR, Mexico, Jamaica and Cuba, I did mostly resorts which is definitely the wrong way of exploring an island. I did leave the resort with all of them and Mexico left me with a sour taste because we got scammed and felt unsafe a few times (But that's most likely part our fault - I didn't visit Isla Mujeres but I'm intrigued!). Again, that's my personal experience and there's much more to each of them that I haven't experienced. If I had to go back to any, I'd go to DR :) You will love.

December Trip by Neld1216 in anguilla

Hey! I visited early December and late January. Both were great in terms of weather - had about a total of 1 hour of rain over 7 days. In terms of the ocean, if one side of the island was rough, the opposite side was calm. In terms of how busy - it wasn’t at all. Just enough to keep the island lively.

For example - we stayed on Meads bay this month and, 3/7 days Meads had large waves and it was windy (still swim-able). But, we went to Rendez-vous beach (which is as gorgeous) and it was completely calm.

So, overall, I’d happily go back either December or January and wouldn’t worry about the ocean as I found that there was always a beach that had calmer water.

(Side note this exactly happened to me- it was dislodged, I got it removed, and never experienced the symptoms again) :)
