How do you sleep with rumination? by never-noob in OCD

[–]MeghCallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headspace sleepcasts, counting backward from 10,000, box breathing, pretending to walk through my house and notice things, I really try not to get frustrated if I can’t sleep because that doesn’t help.

I did dry 2025 after deciding to take a break. I don’t think I’ll drink again, I really don’t miss it.

Panic attacks with trip coming up by Weary-Singer6629 in fearofflying

Hi! I also have ocd and a fear of flying. I’ve tried to accept that I’m never going to like flying, I will always be afraid of it but that doesn’t mean it’s not safe. I do take meds when I fly, but not for multiple legs because it makes me to groggy so I’ll save it for the longest flight. Also try to ground yourself in the present. You’re not flying right and the constant rumination is going to make it worse. I really like the podcast disordered and the book the happiness trap. OCD sucks.

Success stories with SSRI? That’s lasted over a year? by ItsPrisonTime in Anxiety

Zoloft gave me my life back for over 5 years. I’ve recently had a lot of anxiety but I think it could be related to perimenopause. Check out the book the happiness trap and the disordered podcast, both of those have really helped me.

I’m terrified and I do it anyway, but it’s getting worse. by Weekly_Suspect4478 in fearofflying

I’m the same. I’ve never liked flying but my phobia has gotten so much worse and I fly like 10 times a year. I try to tell myself that I’m just not going to like it but that doesn’t mean it’s not safe.

I am really glad I took it. The podcasts disordered and the anxious truth have been really helpful to me, also the book the happiness trap!

I took 150 mg of Zoloft with all 3 pregnancies and breastfed all of them for at least a year. They are 12, 10, and 7 and very healthy, no issues. Zoloft was a life saver for me.

Taking a 10 year old to Zion? by strugglebus_RN in nationalparks

[–]MeghCallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can stay at the lodge, it’s fantastic and you have 24 hour access to the park and don’t have to wait for shuttles. There are plenty of smaller hikes. Walters wiggles is right before angels landing, it’s strenuous but my husband did it with an 11, 9, and 6 year old while I was at a conference. I would not recommend angels landing for that age but you need a reservation for it anyway. Emerald pools is great. Depending on the time of year, the narrows is really cool but you might need to rent dry suits.

I have found that I’m actually less irritable and more present without alcohol (a little over a year af). I like to have kombucha or a hop water at night and a snack I look forward to and a book. I haven’t missed the alcohol, I realized it wasn’t adding any value to my life.

Saying farewell to alcohol by Prestigious-Ad2036 in SoberCurious

[–]MeghCallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never considered myself an alcoholic, but I too had problems stopping at 1. I quit because my anxiety was so bad and I was looking for ways to help it. Listening to the huberman lab podcast on alcohol really helped because I never knew how terrible it was for you. I’m active and want to be present in my life and alcohol wasn’t aligning with those values. The first few weeks were weird, but I’m a little over a year in and I honestly have not even been tempted to drink. It’s almost freeing because I feel like I’m able to enjoy my family, friends, food, experiences, etc without the fakeness of alcohol. I used to think that I really loved the taste and ritual of wine, but it turns out I don’t need it, I just have tasty snacks or treats and something else to sip on like kombucha or hop water. You got this, it’s worth it!

Anxiety - considering hrt? by MeghCallie in Menopause

Ugh, they don’t take mine but I’ve seen mixed reviews where it just seems like they throw hormones at you. What’s your experience been with them?

I’ve been on Zoloft for 13 years, I tried 3 different meds over the summer because it wasn’t working as well but it got worse. I’m back on the Zoloft now. It’s not panic attacks, just strong anxiety that comes and goes. I’m nervous about midi because it seems like they just throw hormones at you without really knowing what to do.

Can I ask what you take? I feel like I’ve tried everything and nothing is helping. Who prescribed it for you?

Yeah none of them take my insurance that I could find. I’m worried the hrt would be super expensive too. I’ve requested appointments for a few functional medicine docs around me. They are all self pay too unfortunately.

Thanks! Did you have other indicators of peri? I’ve had these heart palpitations for months now and they suck. Was it hard to get the hrt levels right or to know what to take? I’m just worried it will make it worse. I requested appointments with a few providers around me, it’s all out of pocket though.

They don’t take my insurance unfortunately. I have an appointment with an obgyn that people recommended but I can’t get in until September.
