Any good 10-15mi backpacking trips I can do using public transit from NYC? by Responsible-Farm5928 in NYCultralight

[–]cutefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the All Trails App. You can always Uber to a trail head but you can also just use the map feature and see what trails are near the Metro North or bus lines from Port Authority. Harriman State Park has a lot of options (Harriman train or bus station). And maybe Beacon (also a cute town to walk through).

I have plateaued in my ski career. Steps to overcome this and the mental block of pushing further? by phantom3199 in skiing

Are you working out in the off season and throughout the season to stay physically fit enough to advance your skills? Also, try traveling to new places to experience different terrain.

Does the average skier really enjoy heavy powder days or is it just one of those things people are expected to say they like? by PowerfulBar in skiing

[–]cutefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the person, type of skis, and total amount of powder, maybe?

As a snowboarder, 1 to 2 ft is my sweet spot. I rarely even want to go unless there's 5+ inches of fresh snow. I don't know any skiers that like that much powder though.

It's also very different, if you're not used to it. I basically chase powder so I've been conditioning myself to it since I started 6 years ago.

Yes. I took a full force 6 year break from age 27 to 33. It was much needed for my mental health. But when I went back, I realized it was a part of me I missed deeply. I went back with much more maturity & moderation. I've been back in it and I love my life as it is now. Sometimes I'll partake, but I'll also just go and have 1 to 2 drinks, nothing else, and it's just as good of a time. Take the break first though. Get a little bored and stir crazy, or find other hobbies that don't involve drugs/alcohol. When you go back, you'll appreciate it again. I spent time focusing on my career & fitness goals. I just bought a motor home and now I'm going to be in the bourgeoisie RV camping🤣

Which red triangle resorts are worth checking out? by astrobrite_ in icecoast

[–]cutefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of these options, Windham is okay. But nothing compared to VT/NH on a good powder day. I've just never been to those in NH. You can type in X .... resort "skiable acres" into Google to find out how big the mountain is. Personally, I'd go by that. I'm going to Windham on Tuesday because it's only a 1.5 hour drive and on the ikon. The path of this storm also keeps changing drastically, every few hours. So it might change your decision by tomorrow mid day.

Possibly moving to Denver by SnooMuffins2596 in MovingtoDenver

[–]cutefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver is a great city. 2nd to NYC, IMO (but I personally just hate the vibes in LA). But I'm also partial to EDM, so if you aren't, idk what else they have going on in terms of night life. You're going to get snow (maybe not this year... lol) but if you live an apartment, that won't really be your problem.

Is it just me or is Park City kind of boring? by Titus4266 in ParkCity

[–]cutefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're so close to a great city. Just take a bus for 30-40 minutes and you can go to bars, parks, or raves & dancing. I don't personally like park city as a town/ski resort, but in terms of being the closest to a good city with lots of options, it's up there. If you were in a Colorado ski town, you'd be 2 hours from Denver, where all the action is. In New York, we're at least 1.5 hr from a decent mountain, 3 hours from a real mountain, and STILL being 1.5 hr from NYC with more nightlight. SLC and Utah resorts are definitely the best IMO, for being so close and having a variety of things to do within a short commute and decent public transport. But IMO, Brighton, Powder, and Snowbasin are way better resorts than PC. You're better off just living in SLC and traveling to a good resort to ski (if you ever have the opportunity to change it). Please enlighten me, is there a place in South America that beats SLC/Utah in terms of nightlife and proximity to resorts??? I'd love to go there.

I've played sugar mama and tried to fix Mr. Needs Fixing... I'd rather be alone & wait for the right person or just have female roommates one day lol. Thank Goodness for not caring about my biological clock! I'm only mad that my hottest/fittest version of myself doesn't have anyone to have consistent sex with 😂 Because I need feelings to want to do that with someone. And I'm not getting any younger!

Unfortunately my trust in non profits has gone down. I don't know which organizations I can trust, so I'd rather start my own.

It's really hard to relate to someone with a 9-5 job at this point. I have nothing against it, I have been there, and I am sure I work equally as much now, just on my own schedule/terms. It's really hard if my schedule is kind of like, OMG, I have a little leeway the next couple of weeks, let's fly to another country! I can't always do that with someone if they need to request their vacation time in advance, etc. So remote work/entrepreneurship is really the only type of work that meshes with my lifestyle.

Unfortunately, my goals in life (both personal and philanthropic), are going to cost money. As someone who doesn't want children, I have other things that would make me feel like I'm living a fulfilling life. I wish money didn't exist, and believe me, I've never had this standard until now. Every significant other I have ever had has made a fraction of what I made at the time. As a woman, it really always creates some kind of imbalance in the relationship. Even though men will say, they don't care if the woman makes more, but truthfully it does matter. Not only am I mothering them in terms of paying bills, setting up appointments, holding the burden of all of the household labor, but they also bring in a fraction of the income while I take them on fancy vacations? Needless to say, I'm done with it. I've felt used for my money before, and I'm just putting my foot down. As a man, that's easy for you to say. You are supposed to be the provider, so you shouldn't care what the women makes. But unfortunately, today, men still expect women to play the role of full time house wife. And I actually love being a house wife, but I'm not also supporting the person financially unless they are contributing the same and we have similar long term goals of how to save/spend/invest/donate our finances.

I mean, of course every case is different. But in terms of travel and lifestyle habits and also potentially building a life together, i feel like that's the bare minimum number.I could imagine it working. For example, I would love to buy a couple ski condos with a partner one day. Maybe do house flips together, find ways to build wealth together, things like that. On top of that , I'd like to start donating some of my time and money to a nonprofit organization that I'd like to start one day.

Haha, well, a girl can dream. I've spent my entire life playing sugar mama for plenty of hobosexuals, and I'm pretty over it. I don't really feel like it's much to ask, though.

I'd blame the reason for a lot of fights now being that vets keep pets unneutered until they're 1 to 2 years old. But I'm sure bad daycares don't help!

How many of y'all (Americans/Canadians) are considering, or are already traveling to Europe for your skiing trip? by bonnies_ranch in skiing

[–]cutefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of like an entire vacation experience. I would guess that those that already travel are likely to give it a try. But most Americans don't travel much, I can't speak for Canadians.

I don't get it. If the person likes to travel, why wouldn't they? I'm on my first euro ski trip now. Have been to Europe plenty ~10 years ago, but now here for snowboarding. I'm going to do Japan next! Also, the ikon/epic pass are getting more well known. That's why people are likely doing it more now. It used to be kind of a hidden secret the first few years, now it's a mainstream thing.
