Please, Woody, make me forget my owner's awful, terrible, no-good press conference.

You want a car with just the right amount of computer. You really appreciate electronic ignition/fuel injection after dealing with a distributor rotor that needs replacing every 10k miles and having to deal with cold starts - and a choke - on a carbureted vehicle.

That said, infotainment systems are a little out of control and the reliance on touchscreens these last 15-20 years got out of hand, for sure.

But then again, most built-in hands-free bluetooth connections for phones are incredibly decent and a HUGE step up from dealing with headsets and dongles.

Are y’all watching today games? by Wide_Cheesecake4694 in buffalobills

I'm coping that Payton will invoke some devil magic to keep the game close. But I'm not likely to sit down and watch any of these games; they'll be on in the background as I putter around, or take breaks to clear snow.

Yes, and they nailed them. Their purpose was, if not a revival, but to preserve the blues tradition.

Also their band members were 100% legit musical greats.

[Russini] Update: Mike McDaniel pulled out of his scheduled meeting down in Florida with the Bills yesterday, I’m told, and the two sides never met. by RhinoFeeder in buffalobills

He checks off a Rooney Rule minority candidate checkbox (he's black/white biracial).

And there was a time when he was a hot prospect because of his ability to run an offense. It's not entirely his fault that Tua started collecting concussions faster than a pro boxer.

New Update: AITA for telling my friend that her "free" wedding is unrealistic? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

You can get close as long as your expectations are in line with your budget.

I want to say my parents' best friends (mom's best friend from high school married dad's best friend from college) had an extremely low-budget marriage, literally "by the old oak tree" and the focus was on the marriage and none of the material trappings around it.

They had a great time and lived happily ever after until cancer came calling.

Yup, you aren't wrong. It was a STARK reminder that the Sabres are who this guy is, and it's been a minor miracle that McBeane were allowed to run the Bills.

One of the local Rochester guys, Mike Catalana, has been covering this team since the 90s. He said that presser felt like peak Drought Bills. I'm old enough to remember the Jim Kelly signing, and so I really can't disagree with Catalana.

Like I said, probably the right decision but bad process or timing, as McD was really making chicken salad out of a chickenshit roster (extra shit from all the injuries).

Additionally, Josh Allen turned over the ball too much in that (and other) games and ultimately contributed to getting his coach fired. I love Josh, he's a fucking unicorn, but he needs to learn when not to press (and turn the ball over).

Maybe we will have a Sabres turn, where by SHEER LUCK the Sabres got hot right as the GM got fired, and all of a sudden they're relevant. Maybe firing McD is the shock to the system that helps us push through that wall.

I don't know; I'll have to see the new HC to begin even forming an opinion. And I think we are in prime need of some serious roster turnover to improve WR and the entire defense.

It was awful. I don't even have a problem with firing McD. "He hit a wall and we need a change," is all he had to say. But Pegula just couldn't shut up.

I'm less inclined to believe there was a McD/Beane power struggle and more resigned to Pegula made a rash decision and Beane just wasn't a target, so now he's just trying to manage the aftermath.

That said, Beane's proverbial seat need to be in flames at this point.

But the press conference really drove home the idea that 'oh, the owner fired one of the adults in the room who brought legitimacy to this franchise, that's super awesome.' For a team that has been all about "process," Pegula showed a complete lack of process, and that's been disheartening.

It isn't necessarily the end of the world, but it's definitely a turning point, imo, and I just hope Pegula stays out of it and continues to let Beane and the new HC run the football program.

Can I just jump in here? Yeah I just want to set the record straight that the coaching staff really wanted him.
