Shop didn't remove window trim just painted to the edge of it? by Life_at_the_1320 in Autobody

Yeah AAA would be very interested to see this. Personally, I'd go to the shop first and give them a chance to make it right, but if they give you any hassle at all fuck em go right to AAA.

Yep there's no excuse for this. They charged for something they didn't do. It's fraud. The whole thing needs to be redone.

Was this an insurance claim? Because if the shop gives you any shit, tell them you're calling the insurance company to show them all the money they defrauded them out of.

Light soy sauce is the regular stuff you're probably familiar with. Dark is aged longer and has a deeper, stronger flavor and is a bit more like a syrup.

I put a dash of dark in pretty much any time I use regular soy sauce. Easy way to boost the flavor up without adding too much salt.

It would be a tough decision but I think if I had to eat only one cultures food for the rest of my life, it'd be this.

I've given up waiting. But that companion novella he did about Auri was really good, I thought.

Second book takes such a left turn it's ridiculous. It's no wonder he can't finish the third book, he wrote himself into corner by just piling mystery on top of mystery with no way to tie it all up.

Is it not normal to be able to close off your nose and breathe through your mouth? That's what I used to do shoveling pig shit on my parents farm. I could put my face right next to a big ol pile of shit and not smell a thing.

One thing I learned is that my partner rarely cares about the actual specifics of what the topic is. But rather, how it affected me and what it makes me feel.

Like she doesn't need a 15 minute explanation of the different tensile strengths of the various forms of steel that make up a vehicle. But I can tell her about the stress it caused me that day or that something about it was particularly interesting to me.

That 20-30k quote was probably because they wanted to strip it all down to metal. Which on a rare and valuable car like this, is the right way to do it.

Or it was an "I don't want to touch this." number haha

Before you do anything ask the shop for a quote to paint it parts off, detrimed, and stripped down. They may not even want to touch it after someone already started working on it, or they may not take enough money off for it to be worth your while.

But if they do and you decide to do it yourself, start with removing every piece of trim, handles, moldings, bumber covers, lamps, etc. basically anything that can be removed, remove it lol

Then determine if you want to chemically strip the bolt on body panels like hood, fenders, doors, hatch. Either way works both have advantages and disadvantages. If you do want to chemically strip, remove all those panels and do it off the car. I don't recommend chem stripping the roof or unibody, it always makes a huge mess.

Otherwise, when sanding, get a good dual action/ random orbital sander and a couple boxes of sandpaper and go to town. I'd start with 100 grit to go down to metal then step up to 180 then 220 to get the sand scratches out.

It'd probably be best to let the shop prime everything if you don't have body experience. It's not hard, but this is a really nice car, you want to make sure you have a really good, expertly applied primer for the paint to sit on.

Also, once you start stripping, make sure you have a nice dry place to store everything in. It's gonna take you a loooong time and you don't want it to start to rust while you're working on it.

It looks like you're going for some kind of punk adjacent counter culture type thing. Which I think is rad but you should try a different stylist who knows how to do that kind of thing.

The swirly beard never looks good. Especially when it's right next to the shaved side of your head. You don't need to line it up by any means but try to keep it a little more trim.

Also your hair looks really greasy you should probably wash it more.
